Job Summary:
Performs molecular genetic assays and general laboratory maintenance for the Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) team.
Schedule:
Tuesday through Saturday, 9:30 AM to 6 PM
Primary Responsibilities:
• Carries out laboratory procedures such as library preparations, amplification, enrichment, library dilutions, and loading of sequencers for the next generation sequencing team • Assists with special projects for validation and implementation of new NGS products • Maintains records of laboratory work and sample tracking • Follows all laboratory protocols and policies, including quality control and quality system activities, and documents appropriately all records, deviations, and corrective actions as required • Operates and maintains sophisticated laboratory equipment, including Beckman and Tecan automated liquid handlers; Agilent Tapestation; and Illumina Next Generation Sequencing Platforms (NovaSeq, MiSeq) • Monitors and maintains supply inventories and reagent stocks • Assists with troubleshooting issues with assays, equipment, or procedures
Secondary Responsibilities:
• Assists with other laboratory production pipelines as needed Requirements
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor degree or higher a Biological Science or related field • Computer literacy of Microsoft Word and Excel • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in writing
Preferred Qualifications:
• Minimum of 1 year previous laboratory experience with Illumina NGS platforms • 3+ years of general laboratory experience with molecular biology techniques (e.g. PCR, qPCR, NGS, Illumina SNP arrays, DNA extractions, capillary electrophoresis, etc.)
