PURPOSE:
We are looking for a Leader of Flight Crew Scheduling who wants to create a more holistic approach and bring the human touch back into all aspects of this craft. To bring together the subtle art of timing, people and business need to create a process unmatched in the airline industry today.
The Flight Crew Support Specialist performs similar functions as of a Crew Resources Planner and Flight Crew Scheduler. This position is responsible for developing and communicating a schedule for all flights, as well as assigning crew members to flights. This position works very close with all departments of Avelo airlines and is responsible for directing people between locations by using the smallest number of personnel and vehicles and as quickly as possible.This position is vital to our Customers and Crewmembers with on-time and reliable flight schedules.
This position demonstrates a “One Crew” and “Do The Right Thing” mentality for the operation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Flight Crew Support Specialist job description entails carrying out a variety of technical flight crew support functions and activities, including flight control, stationing of personnel related to crew schedules, and maintaining necessary communication with all crewmembers.
- Paying close attention to the current state of operations, especially during periods of inclement weather or other circumstances that may result in delays and/or flight cancellations.
- Responsible for performing continuous auditing and verification of coverage of all scheduled flights and monitoring of crewmember schedules to ensure legality/FAR compliance.
- In the case of any alteration to schedules, this position is responsible for notifying crewmembers of changes to daily/monthly schedule changes.
- Vital role in ensuring operational excellence. Flight Crew Support Specialist are required to utilize reserve crewmembers in the most efficient and expedient method available.
- Must provide customer support to all crew members, managing all Flight Crew Support related items, including relaying correct policy, procedural, and regulatory information.
- Secures all necessary accommodations, including but not limited to hotel and deadhead flight booking.
- Performs various crew scheduling functions, which primarily entails building / posting / monitoring flight crews schedules. Ensures these schedules agree with government and company regulations, airline schedule requirements, and flight crew qualifications.
- Monitor and uphold compliance with federal laws of flight crew member schedules for a day-to- day operations.
- Work together with other Operations Command & Control (OOC) personnel, Flight Operations, and Inflight management to ensure a safe, efficient, and cost-efficient operation.
- Responsible for communicating federal regulations, reassignments, and accommodations to crew members.
- Apply federal regulations, crewmember qualifications, and established company policy and procedure in assigning uncovered flying.
- Process flight crew member requests including leave of absence coding and required training events, as well as confirm availability for the monthly crew schedule.
- Employ several and varied software systems (SkedFlex) to complete assigned tasks.

- Ability to work through multiple problems/solutions prioritizing and sequencing the execution of issues to manage and resolve them quickly and effectively.
- Risk management and problem-solving skills to determine the best course of action when an issue arises.
- May perform other responsibilities, as assigned. Responsibilities and duties may change when circumstances dictate. (e.g., emergencies, changes in workload, etc.).
- Microsoft Office skills basics (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams).
- Move throughout the office for extended periods of time (up to 10-12 hours per day).
- 7-day operation and available for afterhours management of airline operational issues.
- Interested individuals require a minimum of High School Diploma, but applicants with higher educational qualifications are preferred (Crew Resources planning and Flight Crew Scheduling experience a plus!).
- A US citizen (or ability to work in the US).
