This candidate will manage and participate in the installation, relocation and or removal of electrical and computer equipment in the NOAA Center for Weather and Climate Prediction (NCWCP) Collage Park facility Data center. They will be responsible for the technical scope of work, physical power connections, documentation and energizing of all equipment including the chilled water plant HVAC and electrical infrastructure. They will also be responsible for the proper operation of the Chillers, cooling towers, variable frequency drive systems, Power Distribution Units (PDU’s) Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) systems, Generators, Switchgear and many other systems critical to mission continuity.

Provide Infrastructure and systems operations and maintenance in support of the NOAA mission.

Requirements

Education/Experience:


Minimum 5 years building facilities support

Primary Responsibilities:


  • Maintain power and cooling at all sites such that facility uptime is 100%.
  • Switch facilities power supply from primary to backup systems, as required following all applicable standards.
  • Assist government contracted vendors in maintenance of power backup system(s) including Power Distribution Units (PDU), Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) and mission critical generators.
  • Provide weekly tracking of high visibility, short-fuse tasks, as required.
  • Assist with installation of racks and other IT equipment in compliance with safety and facilities standards.
  • Provide weekly status of facilities equipment (fuel, available power and cooling capacity) and ongoing maintenance items.
  • Create, maintain and modify physical plant schematics
  • Coordinate and assist with inspections or maintenance of mission-critical systems.
  • Assist with network and phone cable installations.
  • Assists Building Manager and Government with planning, designing, and facility maintenance oversight of water supply, chiller and electrical systems.
  • Track all facility related maintenance contracts and provide timely notice to the Technical Point of Contact (TPOC) when contracts must be extended or renewed.

  • In order to meet the clearance requirements for this opportunity, candidates must be US Citizen and/or Current Green Card Holder.
  • All candidates will be subject to a complete background check to include, but not limited to Criminal History, Education Verification, Professional Certification Verification, Verification of Previous Employment and Credit History.
  • Public Trust background investigations can take approximately four to eight weeks and requires fingerprinting.

  • The salary for this position is $50,000 - $80,000 annually
