Full-timeDescriptionThe ideal candidate will have a robust background in database administration, architecture, and PostgreSQL development. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the performance, integrity, and security of the PostgreSQL database environment.The Database Engineer will:
- Design and implement database architectures that support business requirements and achieve high performance, availability, and security.
- Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of PostgreSQL databases.
- Conduct performance tuning of database systems, including queries, stored procedures, and indexing strategies.
- Develop and implement database backup, recovery, and failover procedures.
- Assist in the design and development of data models and database solutions.
- Collaborate with development teams to optimize database code in application layers.
- Provide guidance on database best practices to IT staff and other stakeholders.
- Ensure database infrastructure is up-to-date with the latest technology trends and security patches.
- Develop and maintain documentation regarding database configurations, architectures, and procedures.
- Serve as the point of contact for database-related queries and technical support.
RequirementsRequired Education, Experience, & Skills:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in PostgreSQL database administration, tuning, management, and security.
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with PL/SQL or similar procedural language.
- Familiarity with database design, documentation, and coding.
- Previous experience with Linux/Unix and scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Perl.
- Knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery options for PostgreSQL.
- Good understanding of hardware performance, memory and I/O.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and mentoring skills.
- U.S. Citizen
- Must be able to obtain Public Trust clearance at a minimum.
Preferred skills:
- Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Data portal development
