About the role:


We’re hiring a Full Stack Software Engineer to work on a fast-paced team. Classy Live helps make the world a better place by providing tools that charitable organizations use to hold live fundraising events. We use React and Node.js to provide cloud-hosted tools around live streaming, auctions and payment processing.

What you’ll accomplish:


  • Demonstrate that you are a great software engineer
  • Contribute across the Classy Live product suite, building:
  • Event planning tools
  • Day-of event running tools
  • Livestream / peer-to-peer technology
  • Conversational SMS interface
  • Secure public APIs
  • Design new features and rearchitect existing ones
  • Help drive the migration from a monolith to microservices
  • Write performant SQL and optimize existing queries
  • Work as part of a cross-functional Agile/Scrum team
  • Continuously learn and share knowledge with the team
  • Learn and share from failures
  • Give and receive constructive feedback
  • Mentor other engineers on the team

What you bring (Required):


  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 6+ years of professional software development experience with server-side, web-based technologies (full stack preferred)
  • Excellent understanding of distributed software architecture with experience debugging distributed systems with high data loads.
  • High-level proficiency with Javascript ES6, Node.js, React, HTML/CSS, Linux.
  • Familiarity with Docker and AWS (EC2, ECS, SQS, SNS).
  • Ability to understand product requirements and translate them into technical subtasks.
  • Experience with Scrum/Agile development methodologies.
  • Ability to work at all levels of the tech stack
  • Ability to pick up new technologies in a fast paced environment
  • Proficient with microservice architecture with a deep understanding of strengths and pitfalls
  • Proficiency in schema design in relational databases (PostgreSQL).
  • Deep experience with code versioning tools (Git/Bitbucket).
  • A deep sense of quality, and sharp engineering skills with strong computer science fundamentals.
  • Experience working with remote and offshore teams.

What would be awesome to have (Preferred):


  • Experience with refactoring complex architecture to microservice patterns
  • Experience with creating technical diagrams to communicate ideas
  • Experience with scaling Node.js services
  • Experience with scaling databases and optimizing queries
  • Experience working with Livestream APIs such as Vonage Video API, Twilio Video API or similar
  • Experience with Javascript, Typescript, React, React Native, Node, NestJs, PHP
