Our Indianapolis based client known for their product excellence and innovative solutions is seeking a driven and successful candidate with procurement and purchasing experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment to manage the procurement of quality raw materials, and components needed for manufacturing processes. You will focus on securing high quality materials while maintaining production schedules. This role requires self-motivation, a great work ethic, and attention to detail.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create and implement procurement strategies that align with the organization's goals, taking into account factors such as quality, cost, and supplier relationships.
- Evaluate quality, price, reliability, technical support and availability of goods and services.
- Determine appropriate levels of raw materials stock with various departments.
- Negotiate directly with vendors, issue and control PO’s, manage lead times.
- Maintain and update a list of open PO’s, notifying relevant parties of shipment status.
- Monitor inventory levels to prevent overstocking or stock outs, optimizing the balance between availability and cost.
- Run, interpret, and communicate inventory and usage reports.
- Build and manage strong relationships with suppliers.
- Provide daily support to the sales team, production and warehousing.
- Notify management of delivery issues affecting customer orders.
- Update and maintain product information, pricing, and availability in the order system.
- Understand competition in relevant fields and how materials are purchased and sold.
- Address return goods with Sales, Shipping, and Warehouse Management, negotiating appropriate credit
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
- BS degree in purchasing, procurement, supply chain management, or business administration desired.
- Demonstrated success in leadership and decision-making.
- CPM, IOPP, or other professional certifications.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Skilled in sourcing and vendor management.
- Ability to gather and analyze data and to work with numbers.
- Solid judgement along with decision making skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience with ERP implementation.
- Proficient in Excel (pivot tables), Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
