Job Description


Title: Assembly Technician


Reports To:  Operations Manager

Job Purpose: 

The Assembly Technician plays a crucial role in completing operational processes, including cutting, grinding, fitting, and finishing ablative material to precise dimensions according to print specifications. Additionally, this role involves actively participating in assembly tasks, contributing to shipping and receiving activities, and occasionally utilizing driving skills for designated purposes.

Responsibilities:


  • Execute diverse tasks in a production assembly environment based on specific training instructions, both verbal and written.
  • Cross-train as required on various stations within the assembly area to maximize flexibility and productivity.
  • Read drawings proficiently and carry out layout, fabrication, and assembly steps in the correct order.
  • Report production quantities and labor detail and material movement accurately and according to the company's recording process.
  • Skillfully utilize table saws, router tables, and handheld grinders.
  • Implement proper cutting, grinding, and fitting practices.
  • Apply bonding agents to metal parts.
  • Conduct visual and tactile inspections of surfaces to ensure finish requirements.
  • Utilize measurement tools such as tape measures, feeler gauges, depth gauges, and calipers.
  • Apply basic shop math functions to ensure accurate measurements.
  • Utilize basic inspection measurement methods on completed work pieces to ensure conformity.
  • Undertake paint prep masking/unmasking tasks.
  • Pack, weigh, and label completed items for shipment or storage.
  • Adhere to Quality Management System procedures and Work Instructions.
  • Adhere to company guidelines regarding packaging.
  • Examine work pieces for defects and ensure conformance to specifications
  • Follow company process for quarantining defective parts and work with team members to identify root cause and implement effective countermeasures
  • Proficiently use packaging materials, including hand tools, glues, nails, padding, etc.
  • Operate computer programs associated with assigned tasks.
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors to receive instructions and coordinate activities.
  • Assist with inventory management and shipping & receiving tasks.
  • Occasionally drive for designated purposes.
  • Maintain work areas according to 6S standards.
  • Ensure timely and efficient delivery of packages to customers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Clean driving record necessary.
  • Print reading experience preferred
  • Preferred experience in lean manufacturing and quality systems (ISO 9001:2015, ISO 13485, and AS9100D).
  • Previous experience with standard shop tools and measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges) preferred.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
  • Proficient in using material handling equipment, including forklifts required.
  • Attention to detail required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capable of handling and prioritizing multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
