Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer -Contractual

POSITION SUMMARY


The (Remote) Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer shall take ownership to manage, improve, and maintain Seabrook’s cloud infrastructure. The Cloud Infrastructure Engineer will be a part of the team that provides new builds, operational support, maintenance, and administration for internal and external customers of Seabrook Technology Group.

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY


Key Responsibilities:


Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer

  • Be the cloud infrastructure subject matter expert
  • Design and build high availability, reliable cloud infrastructure including servers (Windows and Linux), network, VPN, firewall, load balancers, etc in both AWS and Azure
  • Manage, improve and maintain Seabrook’s cloud infrastructure
  • Ensure cloud environment meets business requirements for cost, reliability and efficiency
  • Collaborate with clients and the internal team to define and optimize deployment requirements in AWS and Azure
  • Understand and work with relational database technologies including Microsoft SQL server, RDS and Azure based SQL instances
  • Understand and build both
  • Ownership of core cloud services and applying best practices regarding security, scalability, and cost
  • Design and develop automation, such as infrastructure as code (IaC) and powershell configuration scripting to accelerate future builds
  • Establish reliable processes & procedures, scripting, etc.
  • Guide and mentor other engineers in cloud architectures, processes, and procedures
  • Knowledgeable in identity and access management including AD, AAD, app proxy, SSO/SAML and MFA
  • Must be familiar with containerization, Docker, Kubernetes, and EKS
  • Maintain and troubleshoot infrastructure issues in AWS and Azure
  • Analyze and resolve configuration issues in development, test and production environments
  • Build effective monitoring, logging and auditing of systems to ensure policy compliance and reliability
  • Provide timely, accurate, and friendly support to the customer base, both internal and external
  • Reproduce issues in-house, if necessary, for troubleshooting and testing
  • Discuss issues/requirements with client(s) and associated teams
  • Collaborate with the team in support of production environments and ensure incidents are resolved quickly and efficiently
  • Manage infrastructure costs
  • Ensure all infrastructure adhere to any and all applicable compliance requirements
  • Ensure that SLAs are met
  • Work collaboratively with the Solutions team on cloud Infrastructure design with a focus on improving build and deployment efficiency and optimal application performance
  • Assist with technical design requirements and capacity planning per business requirements
  • Help evaluate available technologies and architecture adequate for Seabrook’s business needs
  • Ensure that identified business continuity measures are implemented, documented, and regularly tested, to enable continuous operation of critical systems in accordance with technical designs, best practices and the disaster recovery plan

Sustaining Team Member

  • Acts as L2 support and provide basic to advanced (cloud) troubleshooting to internal team members and customers

Documentation

  • Create and maintain appropriate documentation (cloud architecture diagrams, technical design documents, cost estimates, etc.)

Other Duties:

  • As assigned on a project-by-project basis.

Travel Required:


  • Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer should be prepared to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • Travel required based on:
  • Customer requirements
  • Milestone delivery
  • Successful execution of assigned tasks

CERTIFICATIONS


  • AWS/Azure certificates are nice to have
  • ITIL Foundation Certificate

EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS


  • 5 or more years professional experience with:
  • Cloud infrastructure architecture, build and maintenance, including
  • AWS EC2, RDS, S3, load balancers, firewalls, EKS, and VPN
  • Azure VM, Network, load balancers, firewalls and VPN
  • Azure Active Directory and SSO
  • VPN solutions such as OpenVPN
  • Advanced knowledge in Windows Server 2016 / 2019 Systems administration
  • Communicate well with customers
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to work effectively and efficiently within a complex organization.
  • Knowledgeable in IT Security standards and best practices including ITIL and ISO27001
  • Must be able to work a schedule supporting clients around the world, ideally in a timezone amenable to clients in USA and/or Europe

EDUCATION


  • A B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or related Field is required
  • An advanced degree is a plus, but is not required
