Position Summary:
This role reports to the Chief Tax Officer and is responsible for global tax accounting, associated external tax reporting and tax compliance. In addition to strong technical expertise, the successful candidate will build, lead and mentor a team and interface with internal accounting and finance teams, as well as work closely with external auditors and other stakeholders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor the tax accounting team in completing the global ASC 740 tax provision process from planning and forecasting through to calculations, recording, analysis and SEC reporting. Drive continuous process improvements to streamline the global tax accounting process including utilization of ONESOURCE Tax Provision software.
- Champion SOX readiness and compliance for tax function. Implement and oversee controls and ensure processes, documentation and related systems are in compliance with Sarbanes Oxley requirements.
- Manage associated communications with and deliverables to auditors.
- Play a global leadership role in providing oversight to other initiatives or cross-functional projects impacting tax accounting materially to understand the business strategies and communicate tax accounting impacts to and non-tax and senior stakeholders. Prepare tax accounting research memorandums supporting the proper tax accounting treatment of material transactions.
- Manage potential tax exposures and oversee the inventory of uncertain tax reserves.
- Managetax purchase accounting associated with global M&A activity.
- Assess and model the tax rate impact of changes to international and US tax regulations, including the development of recommendations for changes to current tax accounting policies and procedures to address.
- Partner with internal accounting teams and outsource compliance partner to improve standardization, collaboration, automation and documentation in the global tax compliance process, delivering all global income tax reporting components.
- Develop and lead the team, including external advisors, through mentoring, training & development of technical and finance skills, setting strategy and monitoring progress towards objectives.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s in Accounting, Master’s in Tax or Accountancy required, CPA required
- 15 years of relevant experience focused on tax accounting and compliance from a combination of public accounting firm and multi-national in-house experience with significant portion of experience in consolidation and audit of income tax provision
- In-depth knowledge of and experience with the preparation of and review of US GAAP consolidated income tax provisions, including ASC 740, accounting for uncertain tax positions, and accounting for the tax impacts of multiple M&A transactions
- Demonstrated proficiency with OneSource Tax Provision software and SAP (or other ERP software)
- Proven experience with ASC 740 consolidation of Irish-parented group and European financing structures
- Effective leading year-end audit and quarterly review processes and leading engagement with independent auditors in SOX 404 controls environment
- Strong experience with analytical assessment of all tax aspects of SEC reporting
- Experience with foreign currency and highly inflationary economies within the ASC 740 / SEC reporting framework
- Proven ability to analyze and lead adaptation of new laws, regulations and FASB rules
- Experience managing multi-national corporate income tax compliance; with both Internal and external compliance teams
- Demonstrated success building, developing and leading a high performing team
- Proven capability to drive effective change, working cross functionally and globally in a large, fast paced and highly complex global organization; ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting targeted due dates
- Strong analytical thinking and exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to brief management on pertinent issues, including straightforward explanation of complex principles from a combination of public accounting firm and multi-national in-house experience with significant portion of experience in consolidation and audit of income tax provision
