Summary:
The Sr Vice President, Credit Review is charged with steering the strategic management, oversight and governance necessary to identify, evaluate and monitor the company’s loan review and credit and compliance risk related to lending activities. This key role is intended to drive the deployment of sophisticated evaluation, monitoring and reporting policies, programs and systems associated with lending activities in order to effectively inform senior leadership, ensure compliance with prudent lending practices and mitigate risk.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
- Work cross functionally with other areas of the business in order to achieve strategic goals and objectives, including communication with senior leaders to review and discuss evaluations, trends, market conditions and other relevant factors related to lending practices for the company
- Oversee and engage in the performance of independent commercial loan reviews, including but not limited to the evaluation of credit risk, collateral valuation, appraisals, market data, financial statements, liquidity and loan documentation
- Provide a recommendation and potentially challenge potential transactions based upon independent evaluation of risk and be able to arrive at and support conclusions
- Post-close, be responsible for ongoing monitoring and periodic portfolio reporting of its credit quality and evaluations for any loan amendments, waivers, renewals and/or extensions
- Ad hoc reporting and analysis and other duties as directed by the manager
Qualifications (Education, Computer Skills, Certifications, Etc.):
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics or equivalent required
- Minimum seven to 10 years of relevant working experience in a banking environment with at least three years in a managerial role
- Strong understanding of commercial and corporate lending and analytical skills relating to financial analysis and credit risk
- Demonstrated critical thinking to analyze complex and unique loan transactions and deliver an independent assessment
- Highly organized and able to work in a fast-paced environment managing multiple ongoing projects and tight deadlines
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal, with ability to communicate effectively with all levels or the organization, particularly senior leaders
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other systems along with ability to quickly learn new programs and applications
- Candidate should be a strong team leader, willing to support, mentor and develop team members
- High level of attention to detail
