Position Summary:
Industrial Service Solutions, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled AC & DC Winder for our Yuma, AZ facility. As a winder, you will apply strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills to perform quality repairs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assembles and tests electric motor and generator stators, armatures, or rotors: Inspects cores for defects and aligns laminations, using hammer and drift.
- Files burrs from core slots, using hand file, portable power file, and scraper.
- Lines slots with sheet insulation and inserts coils into slots.
- Cuts, strips, and bends wire leads at ends of coils, using pliers and wire scrapers.
- Twists leads together to connect coils
- Taps coil and end windings to shape, using hammer and fiber block.
- Tests windings for motor-housing clearance, grounds, and short circuits, using clearance gauge, growler, spring-steel blade, telephone receiver, insulation tester, and resistance bridge.
- Winds new coils on armatures, stators, or rotors of used motors and generators.
- May rewind defective coils.
- May be designated according to motor part wound as Armature Winder; Rotor Winder; Stator Winder.
- Ability to solder.
- Dip and bake, VPI stators
- Performance on AC/DC motors, Generators, etc. responsibilities include knowledge and operations of both new windings and re-windings, theory, and electrical circuits.
- Performance and mental acuity to accurately follow instructions and work procedures. Mechanical aptitude, including ability to effectively use all common hand tools and understanding common geometric shapes. Striping and cutting out defective coils, remove insulation, and record coil data for AC and DC machines (Motors/Generators). Sand Blast and prepare equipment for rewinding as required. Cut and form insulation and insert insulation into Rotor, Stator, or armature slots. Prepare, form, wind, dip/VIP and bake AC and DC windings.
- Install and align formed coil or random coil in slots of Stators, Rotors or Armatures. Replace defective coil leads and perform with oxy/acetylene brazing of connections of coils in specified sequence.
- Provide interdepartmental support as needed.
Qualifications:
- Highly skilled at taking winding data and recording.
- Thorough knowledge of various winding connections.
- Excellent math skills.
- Ability to solder.
