Oracle Database Admin (FDA/WCMS)

Precise is seeking an Oracle database specialist to support a large WCMS FDA program. The program is a large development effort, primarily using technologies such as java/cold fusion/oracle forms. The ideal candidate will work with the development team performing various tasks such as data modelling, writing DDL scripts for database updates, creating/updating stored procedures and other custom scripts, documenting deployment procedures for FDA DBAs to complete deployments in higher environments and supporting FDA users with data issues.
We are currently looking for an Oracle DBA to join our growing team. This position will work remote.   Must be a USC, GC, EAD with the ability to obtain a public trust clearance. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Reviews, evaluates, designs, implements and maintains company database[s]. 
  • Identifies data sources, constructs data decomposition diagrams, provides data flow diagrams and documents the process. 
  • Writes codes for database access, modifications, and constructions including stored procedures. Develops and formulates standards, procedures, and conventions for database use. 
  • Works with technical/programming staff to ensure database security. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Install, setup, configure, troubleshoot and administer new and existing Oracle databases on premise and inside the cloud resources 
  • Identify database requirements by interviewing customers; analyzing department applications, programming, and operations; evaluating existing systems and designing proposed systems.
  • Recommend solutions by defining database physical structure and functional capabilities, database security, data backup, and recovery specifications.
  • Install revised or new systems by proposing specifications and flowcharts; recommending optimum access techniques; coordinating installation requirements.
  • Maintain database performance by calculating optimum values for database parameters; implementing new releases; completing maintenance requirements; evaluating computer operating systems and hardware products.
  • Apply Database and Application Software patches as scheduled with government concurrence.
  • Prepare users by conducting training; providing information; resolving problems.
  • Maintain, and update as necessary, documentation (Visio Diagrams) of logical and physical connections that make up the database environment.
  • Provide on-call (e.g., pager or cell phone) database administration support 24 hours/day, 7 days/week. 
  • Respond to all calls or stem notifications within time specified by service level agreements (SLA). 
  • Record off-hour calls and responses using the problem management system no later than the next business day.

JOB REQUIREMENTS


  • Experience managing Very Large Databases (VLDB)
  • Experience replicating oracle databases using Oracle Data Guard, Materialized Views, and Oracle Streams.
  • Experience with installation, configuration and support of Oracle Fusion Middleware
  • Experience with Data Guard/Standby database, both logical and physical. 
  • Experience with Cloud Control environment.  
  • Working knowledge of MS SQL Server database a strong plus
  • Experience with implementing, performance tuning, and supporting Oracle databases
  • Experience performing general troubleshooting database maintenance activities including backup and recovery, capacity planning, and managing user accounts.
  • Experience in managing schemas, indexing, objects, and partitioning the tables.
  • Experience in managing system configurations.
  • Experience creating data design models, database architecture, and data repository design.
  • Problem solving skills to be able to troubleshoot/trace SOA issues by working with development and across teams
  • Experience in upgrading Oracle SOA 11g to Oracle SOA 12c
  • Sys admin skills – able to work comfortably in Linux environment, able to identify firewall issues, update SSL certs, wlst, shell scripting, python etc.
  • Familiarity with API Gateway and security policies
  • Familiarity with High Availability solutions

EDUCATION


BS/BA degree in a related area (or equivalent), and 8 yrs+  of experience in the field or in a related area
