Position Summary:  

This position works in all the areas within the Logistics department, including: shipping, receiving, plant stores, ETS, hazardous waste corral and the track area.  Responsible for loading, unloading, stacking, shipping, transporting, receiving, and issuing materials at BC site facility.  Operates forklifts, yard tractors, dok-loks, power tools, specialize equipment meeting the requirements outlined in standard operating procedures in shipping, receiving, plant stores, ETS, hazardous waste corral and the track area.   This position will promote a culture of continuous improvement, act on key performance indicators, and ensure customer expectations are meet - both external and internal customers. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Champion Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) culture
  • Input material information into SAP and other databases are required
  • Complies with DOT regulations and other regulatory requirements.  
  • Provides written documentation of material transfers, cycle counting, physical inventories, picking list, bill of lading, packing slips, material issues/returns, and equipment check sheets.   
  • Counts, sorts, and/or weighs incoming articles to verify receipt of items on packing slips and against purchase orders.
  • Examines stock to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Completes XRF inspection of incoming parts composed of exotic materials.
  • Receives, issues, and transfers materials into SAP computerized system, generate and affix stock tags on materials and store in bins, on floor, in pallet racks, or on shelves, according to their designated location in SAP.
  • Processes material requisitions, reservations and maintenance orders and issue\return from\to stock.
  • Processes daily MRP to ensure that material counts are correct in SAP and that needed materials are placed on reorder.
  • Processes all received RAPs in accordance to company policies.
  • Receives and process all express packages and daily UPS shipments. Call and\or email employees informing them of the deliveries and availability for pickup.
  • Participates in the Plant Stores cycle counts as instructed. 
  • Ensures that the work area and surrounding grounds are in accordance with housekeeping standards.
  • Locates and retrieves stock materials through knowledge of the Plant Stores location system.
  • Conducts and documents daily inspections of the site hazardous waste corral
  • Assists carriers with preparation/loading of solid hazardous waste shipments

Shipping Function


  • Stretch wraps all palletizes materials for shipment or prior to placing in drive through racks.
  • Cleans, stretch wraps, labels, placards, block/braces dangerous goods shipments in accordance to 49 CFR, IATA, and IMDG regulations. 
  • Captures, records and saves all electronic images of full truck load shipments.
  • Reports incoming and outgoing wood packaging materials (WPM) in accordance to International Plant Protection Convention’s (IPPC) International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPM)15. 
  • Offloads inbound containerized and truckload shipments and places in designated bin locations and double/triple stack where required.

Track / ETS operations function


  • Monitors delivery and pick up of rail cars by Norfolk Southern to both the main plant and SO sites
  • Completes and files all required paperwork supporting railcar activities
  • Spots railcars at bulk offloading stations as required using the Track mobile
  • Ensures that the work area and surrounding grounds are in accordance with housekeeping standards.
  • Completes all required permits in support of area activities
  • Monitors the wastewater stream to ETS process and directs to appropriate tanks 
  • Adjusts pH of wastewater as required using H2SO4 
  • Coordinates wastewater shipments as required
  • Completes manifests for wastewater shipments as required
  • Works overtime/weekends/holidays as required to meet the business needs.

Education and Experience 


  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements


  • Skilled in operating all area equipment
  • Certified to operate power industrial trucks
  • Experience with SAP, SIMS, MOC, CPAR, QSA
  • Experience with MS Word, Excel, Power Point, MS Outlook and VMX 
  • Understands requirements of 49 CFR, IATA, and IMDG regulations
  • Knowledge of DOT requirements

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
