Position Summary


The Senior Survey Research Director (SSRD) will direct project work for a variety of government, business, and non-profit organizations.  The SSRD will support the Director and Associate Director of Survey Research and Operations by providing assistance in the day-to-day running of the unit including the Survey Research, CATI, and Field Operations departments. The ideal SSRD will be a strong leader with knowledge of operational methods and survey design who is able to support and manage a diverse team.

Primary Responsibilities


  • Use culturally responsive and equity-centered approaches to research and evaluation
  • Lead projects of varying size and scope with assistance from staff within and outside of the Unit.

  • Supervise key tasks in a project lifecycle including research design, data collection, and analysis 
  • Oversee all project assignments, primary data collection activities, and operations required to deliver contracted deliverables.
  • Plan, monitor, and perform quality assurance for client deliverables and other project activities

  • Interact with clients to clarify needs, report on progress, resolve issues, discuss contractual items
  • Participate in business development activities, such as proposal writing and budgeting.

Requirements


  • Experience in data collection and analytic methods.
  • Demonstrated leadership, strategic thinking, relationship-building, and management skills.
  • Experience with and knowledge of the principles of quantitative and/or qualitative research design, data collection, and data analysis.

  • Experience managing and mentoring staff.
  • Skilled in client communications and relationship management.

  • Highly motivated and detail-oriented.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and Excel software.
  • Master’s degree in a social science or liberal arts discipline.
  • At least seven years of experience in survey research or related field, including at least 3 years of management experience.

Key Competencies


  • Demonstrated leadership, strategic thinking, relationship-building, and management skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. 
  • Experience reviewing and designing questionnaires and project training materials.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Knowledge of research and evaluation theory and methodology
  • Knowledge of proposal and report writing.

Typical Physical Demands and Working Conditions


  • Requires sitting, standing, and bending and a normal range of hearing and vision.
