Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Avionics Power Engineer to join our Avionics team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the design, development, and testing of power systems for our lunar landers, lunar terrain vehicles, and other space technologies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in avionics, space, or flight vehicles, with a deep understanding of power systems and electrical engineering principles.Responsibilities:
Lead the design and development of power systems for avionics, including power distribution units, power conversion systems, and battery management systems for lunar landers and lunar terrain vehicles.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including systems engineering, mechanical engineering, and software engineering, to define power system requirements and specifications.
Generate detailed schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation using electrical design software.
Integrate power systems with other avionics subsystems, ensuring compatibility and optimal performance.
Conduct system-level testing and validation to verify the functionality and reliability of power systems under various operating conditions.
Perform electrical analysis and simulations to evaluate power system performance, efficiency, and reliability.
Optimize power system designs to meet stringent space and flight vehicle requirements, including weight, thermal management, and radiation tolerance.
Develop and execute test plans for power systems, including environmental testing (thermal, vibration, radiation) and functional testing.
Analyze test data, troubleshoot issues, and implement design improvements as necessary.
Work closely with test engineers and technicians to ensure accurate and thorough testing.
Ensure all power systems meet industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., NASA, ESA standards).
Prepare technical reports, design reviews, and presentations to communicate project status, findings, and recommendations to internal stakeholders and external partners.
Maintain accurate documentation of design changes, test results, and compliance records.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
5+ years of experience in avionics power engineering, preferably in the space or aerospace industry.
Proven experience with power system design, analysis, and testing for space or flight vehicles.
Proficiency in electrical design and simulation software (e.g., Altium, SPICE).
Strong understanding of power electronics, battery management systems, and power distribution.
Familiarity with industry standards and regulations for space and aerospace applications.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
