Job Summary:
The Senior Requirements Engineer (SRE) is responsible for ensuring the structured handling, tracking, traceability, and verification of battery requirements and system architecture to meet applicable standards and stakeholder expectations. The SRE will focus on managing and optimizing the requirements and test management systems used in high voltage battery pack development, with a model-based systems approach. This system will also integrate with the architecture, design, failure analysis, and project tracking tools.
The SRE will work closely with our systems engineers, design engineers, and battery management group to effectively and efficiently capture product requirements at the stakeholder, system, sub-system, and component levels, and their traceability. They will also work with the test group on capturing and managing verification test cases. This role will be integral in managing, deploying, training, promoting, and improving the requirements and test management system at American Battery Solutions (ABS); with a strong focus on collaboration with the engineers.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary contact for project teams regarding the requirements and test management system. Provide training and support to project teams on effective use of the requirements management system.
- Oversee the requirements management tool (Jama) to ensure requirements are structured, accessible, and maintained effectively.
- Develop and maintain a robust framework for writing, organizing, importing, and exporting requirements and test cases. Ensure all requirements documentation is clear, concise, consistently formatted, and verifiable against set criteria with the stakeholders.
- Oversee the tracking of requirement and test case reviews with stakeholders and their collaborative efforts. Facilitate the feedback and approval process to refine, review, and release system requirements and test cases.
- Ensure that requirements and tests comply with relevant automotive standards, such as ISO 26262 Functional Safety, ASPICE Framework, and ISO 15288. Manage the verification process to confirm that ABS meets all technical and regulatory requirements.
- Manage changes to system requirements including impacts and dependencies. Ensure stakeholders are informed of any changes or pending analysis needed from the impact analysis, and the process for baselining them.
- Work with engineers and departments on a model-based system engineering intuitive that includes SysML architectures, failure analysis, project tracking, reporting, dashboards, design, and continuous improvements; and how the requirements management tool integrates with them.
- Adhere to federal and state regulations.

Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- Master’s degree in Systems Engineering or related field preferred.
- Minimum five (5) years experience in systems engineering or requirements management, preferably in the automotive and battery industry.
- Advanced proficiency in requirements management and test management software (e.g., DOORS, Jama, Polarion).
- Understanding of the system engineering V-Cycle and ASPICE framework.
- Demonstrated ability to structure and manage complex technical documentation.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with multiple interdisciplinary teams. Experience with battery and electric vehicle product design preferred, with a strong desire to learn preferred.
- Interest in advanced MBSE methodologies and INCOSE guidelines preferred.
- Interest in SysML architecture tools (e.g., EA, Cameo, Capella, Rhapsody) is preferred.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to adjust focus, especially due to concentration on a computer screen.
- May need to lift and carry up to 30 pounds and/or position the body to reach items on the floor/below knee level or reach overhead.
- The person in this position needs to occasionally move about in industrial environments, and on uneven terrain.
- Works in a temperature-controlled office environment, with occasional work in outdoor weather conditions, and in industrial environments.
- The noise level in the work environment can be moderately loud on occasion.
- May need to work overtime in emergencies.
- May be required to travel on occasion.
