About the Position


The Production Technician-Visual Mechanical will inspect, audit, and report on materials, processes, and products using variable and attribute measuring instruments and techniques to ensure conformance with the company’s production standards.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities


  • Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations. 
  • Working knowledge of fine pitch hand soldering of components and coils.
  • Inspect high reliability parts based on the J-STD-001 and Space Addendum and accept/reject based on IPC-A-610 requirements under a high-power microscope.
  • Extensive user of Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, Access).
  • Inspects in-process and/or finished products by confirming specifications and drawings, conducting visual and mechanical measurement testing, returning nonconforming product for rework, and verifying and validating the completed rework. 
  • Documents inspection results by completing the required reports and logs in a timely basis while summarizes rework and scrap while inputting the data into the respective database. 
  • Accomplishes quality and organization mission by completing related results as needed.

Qualifications


Education:

Two-year technical degree or certificate in electrical engineering, technology or related field or equivalent experience to education.

Experience: 


  • Experience in the inspection of high reliability devices based on J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610. 
  • Be able on set-up and maintenance of electronic and/or mechanical test equipment, operating standard equipment, chamber tools, and the ability to apply logic in the analysis of the problems is required
  • 1 -2 years of relevant experience required

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:


  • Must be experienced in the use of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, including macros/calculations. 
  • Must have the ability to analyze and present the data in a clear and accurate manner.
  • Must know basic statistical terms and techniques, how to enter and plot data as well as recognize out-of-control conditions. 
  • Must understand types of measurement, measurement terminology and the different types of measurement scales.
  • Must know the difference between accuracy and precision and be able to select the appropriate measuring tools and techniques. 
  • Must have knowledge of testing methods and be able to identify/recognize inspection and test errors and initiate resolution. 
  • Must be able to identify and report nonconforming material.
  • Must understand lot level traceability based on product, processes, and raw material. 
  • Must have a strong knowledge of basic mathematical operations and perform measurement conversions; be able to solve for x; add and subtract degrees, minutes, and seconds. 
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and drawings and know the definitions of critical, major, and minor characteristics. 
  • Must be able to use inspection planning and sampling tools and perform a product audit by determining the required sample size for lots and pull the required random samples. 
  • Must have experience using electronic and mechanical testing equipment. 
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret electronic drawings and customer supplied blueprints and drawings and have a basic knowledge of statistical techniques. 
  • Must have a good working knowledge of using and referencing military and industry standards.
