Position Summary

The IT Service Desk Technician is responsible for handling service ticket requests in a professional and timely manner.  This relates to all technology including workstations, servers, printers, networks, phones and vendor specific hardware and software.  The position will be a part of a dynamic team who will help you build and grow technical and leadership skills while creating, deploying, and supporting IT infrastructure.  This position will report to the IT Support Manager and will be based on-site in the Irving, TX office with some travel required to our field offices.  This position interacts with departments such as Operations, Well Delivery, HSE, Geology, Finance, and Leadership, ensuring smooth integration and support for critical applications across the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  •  Communicate directly with end users in person, over the phone, via e-mail and through remote assistance software to identify and resolve end user issues.
  • Test and assess issues related to computer software and hardware, including operating systems and various oil and gas industry-specific applications.
  • Deploy workstations and mobile devices, installing network equipment and software.
  • Document user requests and update client trouble tickets with the status of the issue.
  • Undertake maintenance of computer networks, hardware, software, and other equipment at regular intervals.
  • Install, assess, troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and upgrade computers and equipment of different types, including copiers, printers, and scanners, of all users so that they perform optimally.
  • Participate in testing, documentation, and implementation of assigned projects in a bid to help all users quickly troubleshoot their problems.
  • Track hardware/software, maintain inventory and software licensing.
  • Engage in ongoing training programs, especially in cybersecurity, to augment knowledge and skill set.
  • Implement best practices and standard operating procedures for issue resolution, application and user configuration, and cybersecurity protocols.
  • Additional duties, as assigned.

Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science/IT or equivalent.
  • Certifications such as: Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST), CompTIA A+, etc.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in IT and/or Windows-based desktop support.
  • Experience at an Oil and Gas producer preferred.
  • Experience with ticket tracking systems and meeting ticket resolution SLAs.
  • Experience resolving standard Windows desktop issues, and basic understanding of PC networking.
  • Proficient analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Aptitude for recognizing, recommending, and implementing process improvements.
  • Self-motivated, team player, comfortable working under pressure and dedicated to team development.
  • Ability to work effectively across departments, with all levels of the organization, to prioritize workload and work with minimal supervision.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work with field personnel, office staff and regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to support iOS applications.

  • MS Office Suite and M365, Teams, Sharepoint, Azure. 
  • Citrix for application delivery. 
  • Basic understanding of SOX controls and audits.
  • Windows 10/11, Windows Server (2016 and up).
  • Strong computer and technology skills.
  • Demonstrated competency in troubleshooting.
  • Ability to research information.
  • Strong attention to detail; ability to perform duties with a high level of accuracy.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Effective and productive use of Microsoft OneNote.
  • Demonstrate high ethical and professional behavior.
  • Able to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities, tasks, and deadlines.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships and foster and encourage teamwork.
