About the Position:
Electrical Design Engineer is a multi-faceted engineer that can handle all aspects of the life cycle of resistive products. This position requires inter-personal communication skills as it is customer facing and is the technical liaison between the customer, sales and the factory. This role will also be responsible for the creation and implementation of the technical roadmap and the design and selection of all components to support the roadmap and current resistive base.
Responsibilities:
- Manages and coordinates technical roadmap. Must work closely with the Sales & Marketing team, key customers, and vendors to gather market insight. Role is forward looking but must also maintain and support modifications to current product base.
- Coordinates modifications to existing and new products, form-fitting them to customer requirements.
- Manages all aspects of the technical interface with the customer including technical requests, customer complaints and being a technical resource for the customer. Role will require close coordination between Sales, Quality, and management.
- Designs, develops, and coordinates applications specific testing above and beyond standard quality control testing for the products as required to meet customer requirements using MIL-PRF-39007 as the primary control document.
- Responsible for the design and design controls pertaining to wire wound resistors for AS9100, military and space customers.
- Provide technical and managerial oversight for programs involving new materials or systems development. Creates pilot scale capabilities by working closely with production, purchasing and planning/scheduling.
- Assist in the design and creation of required production and test equipment.
- The cross-referencing of other vendors components the RCD parts base.
- Plans and coordinates training activities for technicians and manufacturing personnel as required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Design at the resistive component level preferred.
- Design experience utilizing differing types of resistive products, especially power.
- Understands resistive basics and types of construction.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to manage priorities and workflow.
- Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively in person, on the phone,
electronically, or through other means to individuals and groups.
- Creative, flexible, and innovative team player.
- Ability to direct and recommend cost-effective creative solutions.
- Proficient using Microsoft products, especially Excel.
Experience/Education:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in related field or equivalent.
- Four to six years related experience or equivalent.
- Background in resistive design preferred.
