POSITION SUMMARY:


The Planner is responsible for executing the strategic initiatives within their division; while ensuring the accuracy and consistency of all plans, revisions and projects developed. Planner will be responsible for creating and managing sales and inventory profit financial plans, categories and items. Planners are responsible for analyzing, identifying and communicating sales opportunities and providing risk-mitigating recommendations. Focus is on maximizing profitability while aligning with total company goals, divisional goals and customer expectations.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Partner with Brand leaders and Inventory Planning Manager to develop plans for future seasons. 
  • Create pre-season sales, margin and inventory plans by categories, style and color. 
  • Analyze and report on previous quarter results; identify "missed sales" and growth drivers over prior year within both print and digital channels.
  • Summarize the opportunity and risk of a product plan as it relates to trend and financial metrics: initial mark-up, average unit retail, average unit cost, net margin dollars/rate, size selling, etc.. 
  • Recommend style count, cc count and flow of goods for optimal results, space allocation and partner with Inventory Analyst on the execution
  • Independently develop and present the financial strategy associated with growth and diminish categories in quarterly investment review meetings. 
  • Effectively communicate support for style, color and size-level buys as it relates to current trend, historical findings or related categories.
  • Analyze product performance and provide insights to Product Management partner on historical and trend performance to create seasonal assortment plans -- including sales and receipts. 
  • Provide analysis support to PMs to ensure correct catalog KPIs for productivity and profit Rationalize item and style counts.
  • Ensure appropriate in stock positions of key products, with reorder plans and partner with Inventory Analyst as needed. 
  • Accurately forecast future demands and determine plans for pricing and inventory. 
  • Develop future replenishment product forecasts and continuously monitor performance and reorder, including capacity and raw material commitments 
  • Provide daily and weekly updates on business as it relates to last forecast, identifying trends, and highlighting selling that exceeds or falls short of expectation. 
  • Initiate conversations with cross functional partners regarding potential risk or opportunities and suggested changes to course of action for both current and future quarters. 
  • Prepare sales, margin and inventory forecast in monthly OTB forecast meetings for current year; provide sales trend opportunity for future quarters, validate stock-to-sales relationships, maximize receipt flow to improve turn, reconcile receipts and suggest pricing strategies to drive profitability. 
  • Propose markdown and promotional strategies to maximize profitability on the life of an item or category; provide pricing and margin dollar gain/loss scenarios. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor's degree required 3-5 years of experience in Merchandise Planning, Forecasting, Demand Planning or other related Field 
  • Strong analytical skills and business acumen: use data to derive critical and meaningful insights to business performance and opportunities 
  • Strong understanding of retail math with the ability to use business results and metrics to drive action plans that benefit growth and mitigate risks.
  • Develop strong collaborative relationships with key partners to drive quality decisions. 
  • Determine solutions with strong analysis and understanding of impacts to business and to partners. 
  • Effectively communicate in formal and informal settings using written and oral methods. 
  • Present and be able to influence others 
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and experience in enterprise planning systems preferred 
  • Identify areas of operations efficiency on an on-going basis 
  • Ensure consistency in thought processes and best practices approach in team and with Planning Partners.
