OBJECTIVE:
The Research Associate II position is responsible for performing formulation preparations (challenge inoculum, vaccine candidates, drug therapeutics) and immunological assays in support of scientific investigations. This laboratory-based position responsible for conducting in vitro experiments in order to produce reliable and precise data. RA II should be familiar with a variety of general laboratory techniques that are supportive of the research outlined in approved protocols. Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic, and team, oriented environment.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
• BS/MS in the life sciences or related field.• >5 years of direct research experience with 6 years of experience with animal research studies; preparing formulations, challenge (viral) material, other research related materials.• 3+ years immunoassay experience a plus (ELISA, Luminex, HAI, TCID50).• Experience working with pre-clinical samples. Experience with non-human primate/rodent samples is preferred. • Training/experience with Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) techniques. BSL-3 experience a plus. • Process tissues and blood (rodent or non-human primate origin) for in vitro assays. • Maintain detailed records on experimentation and reagent/sample inventories. • May assist in analyzing and interpreting experimental data. • General data analysisPHYSICAL DEMANDS: sitting, standing, stretching, lifting, reaching, stooping.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Execute formulations preps on studies; challenge material (Influenza, SARS-CoV-2, HIV, ZIKA, MPXV, etc.), vaccine material and drug therapeutics. • Plan and execute cell-based assays of animal samples. May perform tasks related to the research project independently, but within broad guidelines and subject to periodic review by supervisor or other research staff. • Able to perform or assist with multicolor flow cytometric assays • Process tissues and blood (rodent or non-human primate origin) for in vitro assays. • Maintain detailed records on experimentation and reagent/sample inventories.
Preparations of study specific documents for use in processing, assay performance, etc.• Perform testing of new methods and establish Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). • May assist in analyzing and interpreting experimental data. • Assist with report writing, SOP writing, and GLP compliance. • Interact professionally with clients. • Perform other duties as assigned.
