Overview:
This position is responsible for managing a defined set of high quality taxable and tax-exempt fixed strategies for separately managed accounts. This role is also responsible for executing trades within those fixed income strategies and supporting relationship teams in their asset class management and communication with clients. This individual is considered Glenmede’s resident fixed income expert.
Responsibilities:
Portfolio Management.
This individual is responsible for managing taxable and tax-exempt strategies across separately managed accounts with a goal of delivering consistent outcomes. Non-cash management strategies will be focused on high quality (AA or better) laddered structures. Cash management strategies will be high quality and structured to match individual client mandates. The role should be focused on creating standardized practices that maintain and enhance workflow efficiency and investment processes. Work will be completed in a collaborative team environment that is client centric and focused on supporting relationship teams and business development.
Trade Execution.
The role is fully responsible for all aspects of trade execution, including: 1) Idea generation; 2) sourcing securities; 3) execution and processing; 4) assisting in any settlement and/or operational issues; 5) allocation across strategies in accordance with needs; and 6) raising cash when necessary.
Client Service.
Serve as a point of contact for relationship managers and other key stakeholders regarding investment process, market guidance, and portfolio administration issues. Ensure that trade and client information is accurate, current, and accessible to the relationship teams. Resolve client and operational problems by communicating with brokers and clients and resolve issues by interacting with internal stakeholders.
Firm Building.
Active engagement in department-specific and firm-wide initiatives to expand capabilities, create solutions to unmet business needs, improve user experience, or develop more efficient processes. Ability and willingness to contribute to the advancement of team, office, and business capabilities. Other duties as required by the position.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required; preferably in Business, Economics, Finance or Computer Science
- Minimum 7-10 years of buy-side portfolio management and trading experience, mostly within municipal fixed income
- Knowledge of portfolio management techniques related to retail and institutional portfolios, including risk management, monitoring, and reporting
- Ability to communicate product portfolio features and articulate investment philosophy and process, portfolio holdings and the rationale behind portfolio construction
- Demonstrated experience in working with clients
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Bloomberg, Perform, Charles River and/or other investment management systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to incorporate both fundamental and technical outlooks into trading decisions
- Outstanding math, statistical and quantitative skills
- Strong organizational and negotiating skills
- Extreme accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Master of Business Administration (MBA) and/or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)
