Automation Sales Engineer

An Automation Sales Engineer will assist customers in meeting their business goals through automation project design. Solutions are developed utilizing customer data analysis, material handling system design, simulation, site visits and customer direction. This role allows you to work with some of the latest technologies in the ever-changing material handling field including robotics, mobile robotics, autonomous vehicles, AGV’s, and more with a goal of strengthening customer relationships & providing additional revenue opportunities to the company.
The Automation Sales Engineer will be responsible for the system design and presenting that design to the customer. Reporting to the Vice President of Solutions Engineering, the Automation Sales Engineer will play a vital role in developing & delivering training on solutions development to the sales & sales support teams.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs analysis of customers’ business requirements and develops solutions to meet or exceed customers’ needs. Conducts or oversees the development of proposal documents
- Determines methodology for collecting, analyzing and summarizing data critical to design
- Develops a wide range of concepts that meet or exceed the Design Criteria. Concepts may range from manual to fully automated solutions
- To facilitate concept understanding, uses Autocad extensively to draw concepts in customers layout
- Evaluates concepts and recommends the best solution. Skilled in using evaluation techniques ranging from simple “pro and con” comparisons to sophisticated Return on Investment (ROI) calculations
- Stay up to date on all products/systems/offerings within the industry, including systems integration aspects and highly technical, complex solutions
- Collaborate with the sales team members & customers to evaluate customer needs, design and present the best solution to the customer
- Collaborate with sales team members to visit customer sites and interface with appropriate customer contacts
- Develop and prepare effective proposals for solutions development to provide to Accounts/Prospects
- Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs
- Successfully manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders
- Ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within scope and budget
- Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for delivery of innovative project solutions
- Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress of each open development project
- Participate in internal projects as required
- Manage the workload assigned by the Vice President of Solutions Engineering

- Highly detail oriented, ability to manage to critical deadlines
- Ability to multitask effectively & prioritize & execute tasks
- Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential
- Ability to work through project issues with customers in a timely manner
- Technically competent and proficient with various software programs: Excel, Word, Outlook, AutoCAD, SmartSheet
- Strong written and oral communication skills: In person meetings, email, phone calls
- Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies
- Strong technical aptitude – highly knowledgeable of industry systems including complex integrated systems and components
- BA/BS in Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience

WORK CONDITIONS
- Office & field oriented position with some overnight travel to project sites required
- Overtime will be required when needed
