Description: 


The role involves managing a variety of critical payroll tasks with a primary focus on tax compliance. The position will also support biweekly payroll processing. It will be highly visible across the organization, participating in various ad hoc projects and collaborating closely with the People & Organization (P&O) department on employee payroll issue resolution and improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities Include: 


  • Tax Compliance: Ensure adherence to all federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations. Monitor and implement changes in tax laws and regulations.
  • Payroll Processing Support: Provide backup for biweekly payroll processing, ensuring accuracy in employee payroll, overtime, deductions, and benefits. Consult with managers and employees on payroll questions, policy, and legal regulations.
  • Tax Filings: Function as liaison with third-party payroll provider for all tax-related items, including quarterly and annual payroll filings. Reconciling quarterly third-party payroll provider State and Federal tax filing. Review W-2 issuance by payroll provider to ensure accuracy.
  • Audits and Reporting: Conduct regular audits of payroll data to ensure accuracy and compliance. Conduct quarterly reviews of team members’ payroll setups and processes to identify deficiencies. Maintain high knowledge of the company's payroll policies and governmental regulations impacting payroll preparation. Maintain SOX compliance with all aspects of payroll. Generate payroll reports, metrics, and assigned management reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Issue Resolution: Address and resolve payroll discrepancies and issues related to tax withholdings and reporting. Consult with tax authorities as required.
  • System Management: Maintain and update payroll systems to ensure data integrity and compliance with tax regulations. Utilize all internal tools and defined processes to ensure optimal productivity and service excellence and make recommendations for best practices.
  • Documentation: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for payroll processes, tax compliance procedures, and internal controls.
  • Ad Hoc Projects: Participate in various projects that enhance payroll operations and contribute to the overall efficiency of the organization as directed by the Payroll Leader

Requirements:

Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience:


  • Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred (will consider an Associate degree with work-related experience)
  • Experience: 3-5 years of payroll processing experience with a focus on tax compliance.
  • Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations. Familiarity with payroll software and systems.
  • Skills: Strong analytical skills and the ability to manage confidential information. Excellent communication and critical thinking skills.
  • Technology: Experience in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with payroll software and HRIS systems.
