Must be able to receive and maintain a DHS public trust. Current DHS public trust preferred or DOD top secret with a current BI within the last 3 years.
We are seeking a seasoned professional to join our team as a Lead Database Engineer. The ideal candidate will bring 10+ years of related work expertise. They will have hands-on database administration experience with the ability to lead and direct a team of experienced Oracle DBAs. They will represent the database team when working with the customer’s technical staff, business owners, core users, and other IT support groups (security, development, testing, UNIX, Windows, and helpdesk). They should have experience and interest in software development and be able to contribute to developing strategies to migrate current systems to the AWS cloud.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Ensuring the health and availability of our production database, an Oracle 19c instance running on Solaris servers administered with TOAD and SQL*Plus
- Supporting basic operations tasks, including patching, account maintenance, refreshing databases, troubleshooting user-reported issues, ad-hoc information requests, maintaining ‘common’ code i.e. code used by multiple applications, batch reporting, batch processes
- Participating in a three-person on-call rotation that includes a daily, manual status evaluation of the database environment (backups, batch reports, batch data ingestion, significant application processes)
- Supporting the implementation and testing of basic security controls, general ATO requirements, and the DISA STIGS
- Contributing to the migration of the Oracle 19c instances to Oracle 23ai
- Serve as a technical lead for transformation initiatives, with a focus on performance optimization and system reliability within an agile and modernization framework
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and execute cloud migration strategies, including risk assessment, project roadmap maintenance, and data ingestion design
- Stay current with industry trends and best practices, continuously enhancing technical skills and certifications
Required Education, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in database administration
- Extensive experience as a Technical Architect, Technical Lead, and Database Administrator, with a focus on mission-critical systems
- Experience and familiarity with SQL and PL/SQL including the ability to examine complex code to determine its function
- Experience with shell scripting (Windows and UNIX) including the ability to examine complex scripts to determine their function and the ability to generate scripted solutions to data-related tasks and issues
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to lead teams, drive project success, and foster a culture of innovation and collaboration
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, stakeholders, and team members
- Relevant certifications in cloud technologies, Agile methodologies, and database administration (e.g., Oracle, AWS, SAFe®)
Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:
- Experience in a government contracting environment
- Security Clearance: DHS Public Trust or DOD Secret
Our estimated salary range for this position is $116,000-$180,000. This presented salary range is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Offered salary is based on education, experience, geographic location, and possibly contractual requirements as appropriate to the role. *Salary could fall outside of this range.
