The Impact Sr Manager will work alongside the Chief Impact Officer & Sr. Director to execute initiatives that help Ritual deliver on its commitment to traceability and industry-leading sustainability. This role will require exceptional project management skills, strategic thinking, deep technical understanding of winning sustainability and traceability practices, and the ability to communicate with internal and consumer audiences.
What You'll Do:
- Conduct ingredient traceability diligence for raw materials for new and existing products, including working with suppliers directly to vet and audit their sustainability practices, including human rights compliance and responsible sourcing practices.
- Manage, substantiate and develop compelling brand and product claims in partnership with our Regulatory Affairs team.
- Manage overall certification strategy and lead the execution of relevant certifications including Clean Label Project, CarbonFree Certified, Amazon Climate Friendly, B Corporation and select retailer programs.
- Own internal education for the Ritual team to have a deeper understanding around why our impact work matters.
- Support the CIO and PR team in strategic communications around Ritual’s impact work and thought leadership including submissions for brand and product awards.
- Support Ritual’s advocacy efforts including brand campaigns and direct lobbying.
- Keep the team informed on relevant regulations and consumer trends.
Who You Are:

You're informed by data and have an understanding of sustainability best practices including familiarity with supplier documentation and can manage data sets required to maintain certifications and internal substantiation. You understand how to use both quantitative and qualitative information to support impact decisions.
- Comfortable with ambiguity. Gray areas are common and essential to navigate with sustainability and traceability work. You are comfortable finding a path forward on projects with incomplete information, channeling a spirit of continuous improvement.
What You Need:
- Experience managing projects with multiple partners and shifting timelines.
- 5+ years of experience working in a business or public sector role focused on sustainability.
- Experienced in managing technical certifications and understanding of core sustainability functions like packaging, climate, human rights and responsible sourcing.
- Excellent written communication including a deep understanding of the claims and “Clean/sustainable” market.
- An eye for risk reduction opportunities associated with being a mission-led brand, including the ability to align on strong and credible claims.
- Exceptional attention to detail and project and data management.
Compensation and Benefits:
- PAY RANGE: $91,000 - $150,000
- Your base salary is one part of your total compensation package. The salary range represents the entire compensation range for this position. Exact compensation will depend on several factors, which may include your skills, level, years of experience, technical expertise, and other qualifications. You will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. You will be also eligible for equity and great benefits + 401k + unlimited PTO etc - see our list of perks/ benefits below.
