What do we do?

Paddle offers SaaS companies a completely different approach to their payment infrastructure. Instead of assembling and maintaining a complex stack of payments-related apps and services, we’re a Merchant of Record for our customers. That means we take away 100% of the pain of payment fragmentation. It’s faster, safer, cheaper, and, above all, way better. We’re backed by investors including KKR, FTV Capital, Kindred, Notion, and 83North and serve over 3000 software sellers in 245 territories globally.

The role:

We’re changing how billing and commerce are thought of for SaaS companies which requires combining both a stable platform and a flexible and discovery-based approach to building out the product. Our people are critical to us, so strong mentoring and personal development skills are key for our Engineering Manager role. You will lead one of our Product Engineering teams, based within our Payments group. You will own and drive the direction for a defined area within Payments. You will also work side by side the other Engineering Managers and Product Managers within the Payments group to ensure roadmap cohesion and that we’re delivering against the wider mission within Payments. Each Product Engineering team is made up of a Product Manager, Engineering Manager and between 4 - 6 engineers.

The teams are set up with a clear area of product ownership along with goals that give them clarity on who they’re building for and the tools to choose how best to do that. These teams are cross-functional by design, with supporting functions such as Design, Data, InfoSec, Platform and Developer Experience to embed the tools, values and expertise where needed to enable the end-to-end delivery of the team’s roadmap. Working with our other leaders across Engineering, you'll help guide the department's engineering principles and you'll be involved in technical decisions with your team, ensuring the team is working in the right way and developing your team both personally and professionally.  We believe a strong relationship between Engineering, Product and Design means building a better product for the customer, developing that within and outside your sphere of influence is crucial to our continued success.

What you'll do:

  • Own your team’s technical direction, growth and how they work

  • Develop your team’s roadmap with your Product Manager and own the delivery to ensure predictable and efficient execution

  • Develop your team professionally so they are high-performing and receive continuous feedback

  • Help drive Paddle forward as a Product-led company

  • Have the autonomy to do what you think is right and change what isn’t working

  • Work with your Product Manager and Product Designer to influence Paddle’s business direction

  • Be involved in hiring and Paddle’s continued growth

  • Manage, mentor and coach a team of highly performing Engineers

We'd love to hear from you if you:

  • You’re proactive and enjoy taking ownership

  • You understand the importance of product and design and how great products stem from these relationships

Life at Paddle

Our mission is to help software companies succeed - enabling them to focus on creating products the world loves. Hundreds of companies rely on our e-commerce platform to sell their software products globally, as well as our powerful analytics and marketing tools to understand and grow their businesses. Our vision is to become the platform that all software companies use to run and grow their business. We aim to replace a fragmented ecosystem of specialised tools with a unified platform that removes the complex burden that comes with running a software business, whilst also providing unparalleled insight to help them grow faster. We're early in our journey but making great progress: Deloitte Fast 50 named us the fastest growing software company in the UK (we've tripled revenue every year since our launch in 2012), and we've raised over $17m in funding from incredible investors such as Notion, BGF and Kindred.
