What do we do?

Paddle offers SaaS companies a completely different approach to their payment infrastructure. Instead of assembling and maintaining a complex stack of payments-related apps and services, we’re a Merchant of Record for our customers. That means we take away 100% of the pain of global sales tax compliance and payment fragmentation. It’s faster, safer, cheaper, and, above all, way better. We’re backed by investors including KKR, FTV Capital, Kindred, Notion, and 83North and serve over 3000 software sellers in 245 territories globally.

The Role:

The Assistant Global Controller will report directly to the VP, Global Corporate Controller, and will play a key leadership role in advancing and optimising the overall accounting function. The two key areas of responsibilities will be 1) leading cross-functional projects that drive operational efficiency, or process and reporting improvements, and 2) leading a team that handles the majority of the month-end close processes. For the US, we are only looking at

EST based candidates at the moment.

What you'll do:

  • Optimise and automate accounting processes to drive a faster monthly/quarterly close cycle.

  • Partner effectively with cross functional department leaders to drive process enhancements and improved controls.

  • Make decisions, prioritise effectively and meet deadlines while balancing that with the need for completeness and accuracy.

  • Work with the team to assess and report on the status of existing accounting and reporting standards, procedures and internal controls to identify areas of improvements and lead the execution of remediation efforts.

  • Provide leadership, coaching and development of your team that drives higher engagement and job satisfaction from the team.

  • Manage nearly all of the accounting close cycle and own preparation of statutory financial statements.

  • Lead Paddle’s accounting policy function, to ensure consistent compliance of corporate accounting principles and procedures with FRS 102. In the future, this could include leadership over the support of a conversion to US GAAP or IFRS reporting standards.

  • Lead a fully remote team of 5 based in the UK.

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • Proven experience of driving a high-performing accounting team in a rapidly scaling business environment.

  • Leadership experience in a software and/or global technology company.

  • A strategic vision and best-practices to guide the team.

  • Tactical approach to enable effective implementation of new structures and processes.

  • Strong business judgement applied to routine and complex financial and accounting issues.

  • International experience working with numerous foreign legal entities.

  • Over 10 years of experience dealing with complex accounting matters.

  • A CPA, or international equivalent.

  • Significant technical accounting background.

  • Willing to get into the details to understand business processes at a deep level with the ability to drive efficiencies.

  • Proven ability to drive change in accounting processes to achieve a faster month-end close cycle.

  • Self-motivated team player who can credibly communicate with and relate to people at all levels in the finance and accounting organisation, with experience to mentor the team.

  • Bias towards direct, open and honest communication to drive execution

  • Experience with Netsuite is preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to work cross functionally and to succeed in a dynamic environment.
