About the Role: 


The Staff Software Engineer must have expertise in the transportation space. The position is responsible for working with a small core team of other logistics engineers and professional service team members to support an existing transportation solution. Additional responsibilities include the design and development of key components to help move this existing solution to a new enterprise logistics solution.  The position requires knowledge of containers, componentization, Web API, pub/sub message-based architecture, C#, Python, HTML, and JavaScript.  Some familiarity with VB6 for the legacy environment is also a requirement.  The Staff Software Engineer will collaborate with a cross-functional team to analyze user requirements, architect software solutions, and implement high-quality code.

This position will also be responsible for development, mentoring, and leading a team of junior to mid-level software engineers. 

What You Will Do:


The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:o Work with Enterprise development to architect, design, and build out key components of a new logistics platform.o Provide support to the development and integration teams with troubleshooting issues related to these key components.o Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze requirements for new software applications.o Responsible for writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code that adheres to coding standards and best practices.o Test and debug components to ensure they meet functional and performance requirements.o Perform code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.o Participates in the full software development lifecycle, including planning, designing, coding, testing, deployment, and support. o Troubleshooting and resolving software defects and issues reported by internal stakeholders.o Collaborate with other software engineers and developers to continuously improve development processes and tools.o Contribute to the documentation of software designs, architecture, and development processes. o Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, providing guidance on career development and technical skills.

About You:


o Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, software engineering, or other related field and 12+ years of related experience or master’s degree, and 8+ years of related experience, or equivalent related work experience. o 3+ years of experience in a leading or mentoring role. o Expertise in database systems, such as Microsoft SQL Server.o Expertise in C#.Familiarity with front-end web technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks.o Familiarity with VB6.Solid understanding of software development lifecycle and best practices, including unit testing, code reviews, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD). o Strong problem solving and analytical skills, with the ability to quickly grasp complex concepts and technologies. o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
