At January, we work to ensure that borrowers who fall behind on debt are treated with fairness and respect. Owing to outdated processes and bad actors, traditional debt collection is rife with harassment and fraud. Our products tackle this by helping financial institutions modernize collections, giving borrowers simpler and more compassionate ways to get back on track.
About the role:
We’re hiring a Strategy & Operations Associate to expand our focus on growth and scalability. In this role, you'll dive into a wide array of challenging problems that drive significant impact for the business across Operations, GTM, and Finance. Business Operation is a dynamic team that works cross-functionally to accelerate January's growth, design and improve processes that scale, and expand the company's opportunity space.
You’ll make an impact by:
- Working closely with BizOps and BusDev leaders to support efforts across some of January's highest priority efforts.
- Serving in a project/program management capacity on cross-functional and vendor-facing initiatives, providing clear communication and visibility and holding team members accountable.
- Partnering with other teams (e.g. Product, Contact Center, Compliance) to accelerate progress and solve hard scaling problems.
- Playing a pivotal role in January's growth through research, analysis and execution support in pursuit of new expansion opportunities.
- Acting as the go-to person for certain discrete parts of the business that currently lack a true owner where you'll own execution as well as continuous improvement and scalability.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in a relevant role (e.g. management consulting, banking, or similar startup role).
- You are an analytical and creative thinker who is eager to solve new and ambiguous challenges from first principles.
- You have a demonstrated ability to effectively plan, execute and monitor cross-functional projects end-to-end (often multiple simultaneously) to ensure timely delivery and successful outcomes.
- You are a proactive self-starter. You have a learner's mindset, you're highly coachable, and you operate with a "no task is too small" philosophy.
- You have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally and with external stakeholders.
- Familiarity with SQL or eagerness to acquire proficiency, basic Excel modeling abilities, and adeptness in presenting using tools like PowerPoint or Google Slides.
