What you will do for JLM Clients


As an HR Consultant, you will serve as a pro-active and strategic HR Business Partner to our clients. In your role as a Human Resources Consultant with JLM, you will be assigned to work with primarily small, progressive, and mission driven companies in a variety of industries ranging from non-profits, professional services, construction and more.

What you can expect


As an HR consultant, you will quickly establish a strong working relationship and build trust with your assigned clients. They are looking to you for your expertise and guidance! You will also have the opportunity to work with a group of highly skilled and trained HR professionals at JLM who have wealth of knowledge to share.Based on the client’s needs and expectations, you may perform some or all of the following responsibilities on any given day (this list is not exhaustive):

  • Serve as the day-to-day HR point contact for managers and employees.
  • Assessment of the client’s operations that will enable you to provide expert consultation that will assist the company with achieving their business goals and objectives.
  • Developing and/or implementing HR programs and initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Develop, implement, enhance and/or manage performance management programs and processes.
  • Creating or updating job descriptions.
  • Performing recruiting and recruiting related tasks.
  • Benefits Administration.
  • Development, implementation and/or administering onboarding and offboarding programs and processes.
  • Resolving various employee relations and guiding clients through sensitive HR matters.
  • Recommending HR best practices based on industry trends.
  • Payroll administration.
  • Updating employee handbooks and policies.
  • Providing general compliance training.
  • Other HR related duties as assigned or that may be required by the client in accordance with the scope of work.

  • Strong project management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Demonstration of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems.
  • Knowledge of payroll systems and payroll administration is a plus.

Education and Experience:


  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • A minimum of 4 years of human resource management experience preferred.
  • Prior HR Consulting experience is a plus!
  • SHRM or HRCI Certification or planning to become certified.
