Responsibilities:
- Own supply chain partner relationships, regionally and globally
- Identify significant and realistic cost savings opportunities and drive to completion
- Manage procurement in new product development programs
- Ultimate point of escalation for buyers and quality engineers engaged with supply base
- First line of technical interface with suppliers to convey requirements
- Approver for price changes as requested by suppliers, in coordination with business managers
- Relentlessly drive cost reduction and business position improvement at every opportunity
- Liaison between supplier and internal functional groups – Product Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Application Engineering to manage requests
- Develop and execute supplier contracts/agreements
- Submit requests for quote and manage responses
- Participate as required in product development design gate reviews
- Drive alignment of FMEA documentation between suppliers and internal requirements
- Submit internal spend requests (MERs) to purchase supplier tooling
- Coordinate with the Business Management Team to manage the total product business case
- Manage supply chain efficiency – manage MOQs in coordination with the business management team and buyers to minimize inventory and leverage best possible pricing
- Support on-time supplier payment by coordinating with Finance and shipping to ensure payment terms reflect transit times and delivery / revenue recognition on all sides
- Lead contract review prior to award and ensure adherence to agreed terms and conditions
- Develop supplier program timing for new product development. Track / report status to plan.
- Develop RASICs with suppliers and maintain open issues list(s) as required to drive project task completion
- Identify and rectify roadblocks for successful program completion
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Finance or Mathematics is required
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (preferred)
- Skilled in developing project timing plans using Microsoft Project or similar software
- Understanding of automotive design and validation process and able to estimate timelines based on that knowledge
- Ability to work with cross functional team and influence others that are not direct reports to complete tasks
- Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of fuel system devices (preferred)
- Motivated, self-sufficient, technically diverse, and easily adaptable
- Understanding of internal combustion engine operation (preferred)
- Proficiency / demonstrated understanding in manufacturing or organization process
- Knowledge of quality processes (PPAP, Inspection Processes, Safe Launch, APQP)
