We are hiring a Principal Systems Engineer (Data Team) to work in Laurel, MD. Position location is subject to change based on central MD client's needs.
Required:
TS/SCI with a Polygraph
As a Data Team Systems Engineer, you will support system management planning; build technical plans; develop documentation for the configuration of systems and equipment to the network; assist in analyzing technical problems to determine solutions; propose procedures required to solve technical problems; assist in developing conceptual designs or models to address requirements; and assist in researching new capabilities and plan evaluations. You will also act as a key coordinator between multiple project teams to ensure Enterprise-wide integration of engineering efforts.In addition, you may be asked to:
- Develop a strategic roadmap to transition the agency to Microsoft 365 services.
- Provide project management support to develop an overarching plan within the currently defined phases.
- Break down tasks into manageable details to schedule out the work to address these tasks.
- Provide systems engineering support by gathering detailed information from users on issues encountered during the various phases of the project.
- Using Jira and Confluence, update tickets and pages accordingly to support ongoing activities.
- Provide a strategic perspective to the project and work with the customer to implement key activities to achieve a long-term goal.
- Document the critical path of the project in a way that frames the issues or risks of the project.
- Collaborate across organizations to drive for issue resolution and support.
Individual Capabilities/Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or other related discipline plus at least 20 years of systems engineering experience. A Master’s degree or PhD may be substituted for two years of experience. A high school diploma or GED plus 24 years of systems engineering experience would also be acceptable.
- Jira and Confluence experience.
- Position requires TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.

- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Flexible/easily adaptable within a dynamic work environment that may require surge efforts.
- Familiarity with the requirements and project management process from the beginning to the end.
- Microsoft 365 and good analytical skills.
- Able to:
- Work independently as well as within a team, to complete assigned tasks within expected schedule.
- Work with top-level government management and to work as a team member.
- Prioritize projects/tasks based on government requirements.
- Break down complex problems and offer solutions and or recommendations for a way forward.
- Create process and or procedure documents. (i.e., Flow charts, Check list, SOPs, etc.)
- Manage multiple projects.
