The role of Head: IT Governance focuses on ensuring that the IT organisation "does the right things" through strategy and governance, as well as "doing things right" through organisational and operational alignment. The position is also responsible for managing IT finance, contract, and external supplier practices. It drives the IT service delivery and management capability, ensuring IT change management, incident and problem management are entrenched across the Digital and Technology function. The role furthermore provides strong support to the IT Risk, Compliance and IT Security functions.
The Head: IT Governance furthermore manages the relationship between the organisation (service provider) and the Barloworld Corporate Office (customer) and ensures efficient and effective execution of the related service level agreement. It acts as advisor to all Barloworld Group divisions on matters relating to IT governance and is the custodian of the Barloworld Group IT Governance Charter and related reporting.
Note: 20% of the role of Head: IT Governance role is allocated to Barloworld Group activities.
KEY ACCOUNTABILIES:
- Partners with the Digital and Technology function’s leadership in providing technology strategy for the organisation.
- Drives the tracking and monitoring of the Digital and Technology plan / strategy implementation.
- Works with the Digital and Technology functions and business’ leadership, to provide broad insight to IT domains and capabilities in support of organisational business decisions.
- Is responsible for driving focus and prioritisation within the Digital and Technology organisation through establishing strategic planning and governance principles and processes.
- Assists with the development and management of strategic vendor and partnership relationships across the Digital and Technology function.
- Oversees the development and maintenance of IT principles, procedures, methodologies and governance.
- Drives and facilitates effective collaboration and communications between the Digital and Technology function and the user community.
- Is responsible for directing the preparation, review and consolidation of business plans and budgets for the Digital and Technology function.
- Supports the regular review of Digital and Technology costs and costs structures for Digital and Technology services and products so that the financial implications of Digital and Technology projects and activities can be communicated across the business.
- Supports the risk evaluation, compliance management, IT audit and IT security processes.
- Oversees and guides the IT service management function to ensure adherence to IT service delivery practices, including IT change management, incident and problem management, to foster excellent customer service.
- Manages and facilitates the Barloworld Group CIO Council to foster collaboration and alignment across all Group divisional technology functions.
- Acts as the custodian of the Barloworld Group IT Governance Charter and supporting reporting frameworks.
- Monitors the effective implementation of the Barloworld Group IT Governance Charter across all divisions.
- Provides advisory services on IT Governance matters to all Barloworld divisions.
- Facilitates for the Barloworld Group, and owns for the organisation, the King IV Principle 12 reporting and interpretation of the results.
- Responsible for creating awareness and education regarding IT governance practices to drive closer alignment between business and the Digital and Technology function.
- Keeps abreast of developments, and drives implementation of improvements as necessary, across the IT Governance, IT Finance, and IT Service Management practices.
- Manages the relationship between the organisation and its customer (Barloworld Corporate Office) and ensures the effective and efficient execution of the agreed service levels.
- Supports the customer (Barloworld Corporate Office) in the definition and execution of its technology strategy.
- Manages IT Governance personnel, developing their skills and capabilities to meet the needs of the organisation.
Minimum Required Qualification
Essential:
- · Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field
- · IT Governance-related certifications, e.g. ITIL, CobIT
Advantageous:
- · Postgraduate degree in IT or related field
- · Certifications in IT risk, IT security, IT audit
- · 12 to 15 years’ practical experience in the field of IT governance and/or assurance
- · At least three years in a leadership role
- · Proven track record of contribution at strategic level in terms of technology leadership and business relationship
