Key Output
• Ability to perform planned and breakdown repairs (Disassemble, inspect, assemble and test) Caterpillar Earthmoving components to OEM standards and customer requirements.• Ability to ensure reusability of parts during inspection.• Perform failure root cause analysis.• Quickly and efficiently diagnose CAT systems and carry out repairs.• Technical Expert in testing and troubleshooting of Caterpillar components.• Perform Dynamometer and Test bench performance test on components to ensure components build to Caterpillar specifications.• Testing, troubleshooting and repair of Caterpillar components.• Prepare tested components for paint and dispatch.• Compile accurate component analysis, report, and correct on all technical issues identified.• Comply and execute on company contamination control standards.• Control and maintain test equipment.• Compile accurate customer machine analysis and reports including Engine Inspection Reports (MIR's) and Technical Analysis Reports (TA's).• Ensure safe work practices are followed.• Control own adrnin (labour booking, service reports, part returns, expenses etc.)• Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintained (ISO Standards).• Comply to OEM and supplier warranty systems, policies & procedures.
Qualification, Experience and Competencies
• Qualified in relevant trade (e.g. Diesel Mechanic/ Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic) NQF 3• Minimum 7 years post qualification experience on earthmoving machines (Minimum 4 years Caterpillar experience)• Minimum of 5 years Earthmoving equipment component rebuild, analyse and test (3 year on Caterpillar equipment).• Minimum 2 years' experience on Dynameters and Hydraulic test benches.• Applicable fundamental product knowledge (Caterpillar).
