As the Director of Tax you will be the expert on all things related to tax filings and payments for our cannabis clients. You will be responsible for the daily operations and oversight of the tax team. The ideal candidate has built and led teams in this functional area before, preferably in a payroll services multi-client environment. You are comfortable with autonomy and high levels of responsibility in an area with no room for mistakes.

Responsibilities


· Developing and managing a high-performing team, leading by example, actively mentoring others and contributing to performance management· Monitoring and enhancing the performance of staff in the areas of productivity, customer satisfaction, employee satisfaction, and employee development· Ensuring compliance with Federal, state and Local payroll tax jurisdictions· Ensuring standard operating procedures for department’s functions are established and maintained· Partnering and collaborating with senior leaders of our business· Directing, overseeing, and implementing process improvements for the setup and balancing of tax accounts for new clients, tax payments, and tax notices· Directing and overseeing filing of all tax returns and processing of quarterly and yearly tax returns and filings· Disseminating tax and compliance information to necessary departments and clients.· Managing and developing tax team members, conducting team trainings, mentoring and training employees on tax regulations and Wurk Payroll best practices· Fielding client questions regarding payroll tax inquiries.

Required Skill Sets and Experience


· 4 years college degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field· 3 to 5 years of supervising· Payroll Tax Experience: 10+ years minimum· Leadership Experience: 5 Years minimum· MasterTax Experience: 1 year minimum· Comfort with ambiguity and a fast-paced startup environment· Sense of urgency and an ability to instill that within the team, without losing sight of quality and accuracy· Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information in a professional manner· Work well under pressure and consistently meet strict deadlines· Organized, high standard of accuracy, attention to detail, and excellent follow up skills
