We are looking for a Data Engineering Manager to coach and lead a team of talented engineers. You will be working closely with data analysts in an agile environment to build scalable data systems against product objectives. To thrive in this role, you will have experience leading teams with direct reports and experience acting as a technical lead. You will know how to manage timelines, coach engineers, break down objectives into iterative solutions, and deliver production-quality data pipelines.

Responsibilities:


Lead and Mentor

  • Develop a team through mentorship and coaching. Responsible for recruiting and performance management.
  • Develop relationships with product, data science, engineering, platform, analyst, and marketing teams

Hands-On Coding

  • Actively participate in the coding process, contributing to the development of data engineering solutions with your team
  • Conduct regular code reviews to ensure quality, standards, and architectural coherence

Project Management

  • Work closely with product management to construct an optimal execution plan against a product roadmap
  • Communicate clear data project goals and KPIs to cross-functional data teams
  • Oversee project scope, timeline, milestones, risk management & mitigation, and communication
  • Support execution of a Secure Software Development Lifecycle (SSDLC) that ensures safety and security of Kalibri data infrastructure

System Performance

  • Work closely with technology leadership to evaluate and improve existing systems and APIs that support high velocity, high-quality development while managing infrastructure costs effectively
  • Ensure quality, availability, and accessibility of our data to product, marketing, and customer teams

Requirements


● 3-5 years experience managing people. Proven ability to mentor, coach, and motivate data engineers● Well-versed in modern data ELT architectures● Experience working in cloud-native data pipelines. AWS and Snowflake are preferred● Strong experience with SQL, python, and dbt● Experience with BI tools such as Looker● Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to communicate plans, timelines, and architecture decisions to technical and non-technical audiences● Strong decision-making abilities. Able to break down complex problems into iterative solutions that balance the product roadmap with maintainability● Experience with production B2B data pipelines. Demonstrated ability to oversee continuous processing quality data systems in a production environment.● Ability to lead with little to no supervision● Able to oversee multiple projects with a stellar track record of managing priorities, deadlines, and deliverables● Experience in the hospitality industry is a bonus*Salary - $145,000 - $165,000 based on experience, background and location*Eligible to participate in the company bonus program
