McIntire Solutions is seeking a Network Engineer to join our team in Chantilly, VA to help our client manage a large modern networking solution while assisting with cloud-based infrastructure delivery and support.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the network hardware and software and monitor the network to ensure network availability to all system users;
- Perform the necessary maintenance to support network availability
- Perform installations, upgrades, support and problem resolution for multi-vendor networking operating systems (Cisco, Juniper, etc.).
- Serve as overall integrator of the enterprise network
- Serve as Operational Subject Matter Expert for future enhancement of network transport system
- Monitors and controls the performance and status of network resources by using software and hardware tools, as well as by identifying and diagnosing complex problems and factors affecting network performance.
- Must keep their technical skills updated and studies vendor products to determine those which best meet the Government's needs.
- Provides guidance and direction for junior network support technicians.
Required Qualifications
- Must have a current/active TS/SCI with CI Polygraph
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or similar field
- Requires six (6) - ten (10) or more years of experience in computer systems and network engineering, including 2 years of specialized experience.
- Demonstrated self-starter and team player with excellent communication skills (verbally and written)
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skill
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills with technical and non-technical user
- 1+ year of Juniper experience;
- 1+ years of experience coding in scripting languages (, Python, and/or PowerShell) and Java
- Demonstrated experience with the operation of Cisco network switches, routers, IOS commands, Juniper firewalls, etc.
- Occasional OCONUS and CONUS travel to sites for installation and maintenance
