Roles & Responsibilities:


The
Logistics Supervisor-CDL is responsible for assisting in the coordinating and overseeing the distribution of products, parts, and accessories. The supervisor will also coordinate with the Distribution and Fleet Manager in crafting short and long-term strategies in building a culture of safety within the Transportation organization as well as ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations regarding transportation. The position will require close oversight of all inventory items. The position requires timely deliveries to maximize efficiency.

The position entails being familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures.

Position Summary


Essential Responsibilities:


  • Organize, group, and schedule loads for maximum efficiency on deliveries.
  • Ensure that loads have been verified against the job orders for accuracy.
  • Plan and organize job tickets by trailer prior to loading (daily/weekly)
  • Ensure trucks are loaded for first runs the day before and all subsequent runs loaded prior to the return of the driver.

  • Your immediate supervisor must be notified in the event this procedure is unable to be performed.

  • Advises employees on care and preservation of items received, stored and shipped; methods and use of equipment in handling, storing, maintaining and shipping stock; and related problems.
  • Studies records and recommends remedial action for reported non-usable, slow moving and excess stock.
  • Reviews records for accuracy of information and compliance with established procedures and to determine adequacy of stock levels.
  • Assists in tracing history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records and recommends remedial actions to resolve discrepancies.
  • Assists with the end of year inventory.
  • Inspect equipment to determine their proper utilization and maintenance needs.
  • Assist in training of company safety initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to safety regulations; provide oversight for compliance programs, prepare, and submit records of all activities.
  • Organize, plan, assign, schedule, and supervise work of personnel involved in the inspection, repair maintenance, and servicing of automobiles, trucks, and tractors.
  • Determine type and extent of repairs required, and schedule repair of components, considering time requirements and vehicle downtime.
  • Conducts new hire driver safety training and road test.
  • Assure vehicle inspection hands on training is completed with every active driver.
  • Ensure all safety rules are being adhered to.
  • Assist in monitoring driver qualification files and the hiring and selection process.
  • Conduct DOT compliance audits.
  • Evaluate, plan, and coordinate to ensure Fleet asset compliance with the Department of Transportation (DOT).
  • Performs quarterly safety trainings for all Fleet drivers.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Read tape measure and use air/power tools
  • Ability to lift 75 pounds.
  • Knowledge of County, state, and federal regulations related to fleet maintenance.
  • Understanding and interpreting specifications and manuals.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work and apply safe work practices.
  • Knowledge of all Microsoft Office Applications

Licenses and Certification Requirements:


  • Possession of a valid, unrestricted Virginia Class “A” driver’s license and must be maintained while working under this job description.

Physical Demands and Working Environment:


  • Work is performed primarily in a variety of environmental conditions, indoors and out.

  • Incumbent may be exposed to all types of environmental conditions, with noise, vibrations, fumes, odors and dust, and may work for long periods in hot, cold, wet or icy weather. Incumbents must be able to see and hear in the normal range with or without correction and have the ability to read printed material the size of typewritten characters and communicate verbally and in written form with great facility and must be able to be understood. Incumbents must be able to lift heavy loads up to 75 pounds. Incumbents must be in sufficient physical condition to safely perform the duties of the position.

Other Essential Skills & Qualifications:


  • Education/Credentials- High school diploma or its equivalent preferred
  • Experience- 3+ years previous experience preferred
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities- Proven ability to apply math, writing, and language skills

  • Base Salary: $60,700 - $83,500 annually (Pay is commensurate with experience, education, training, and skills)
