The Premium Audit Team Lead will provide guidance and instruction to help support all audit functions and is responsible for the deliverables of their direct reports. Additionally, the role will work cross functionally with other teams as the liaison for Premium Audit; to encourage collaboration, innovation and execute against team deliverables.
How You’ll Do It
- Leading and Developing the Premium Audit Team
- Support and guide the daily activities and performance of the team through managing the consistency of process and problem resolution.
- Partner with Premium Audit leadership in maintaining a positive, customer-focused culture while ensuring all compliance and company policies are being met.
- Work in conjunction with Premium Audit leadership, as well as our product and Ops Performance teams, to innovate new workflows and processes for the premium audit team.
- Create a high performing audit team by reviewing quality audits, completing one-on-one’s and calibrations sessions to build individual skills and ensure adequate training of team members.
- Build and maintain useful documentation to help identify team knowledge gaps and build individual accountability and performance plans.
- Provide and receive timely, specific feedback to help improve the team member, self, and/or process.
- Partner with an audit analyst to maintain quality and production scorecards for the team.
- Work closely with the workforce management administrator to optimize workflows and scheduling for team members.
- Document performance, and provide recognition/reward for progress and provide feedback for improvement.
- Provide exceptional customer service by modeling the behaviors and strategies necessary to successfully interact and resolve the issues with policyholders and partners in all channels.
- Providing guidance and instruction to support audit team members
- Understand policy holder and partner pain points and communicate their concerns internally to help influence Pie’s products and services.
- Train Premium Audit team members on Pie systems and platforms, and create training SOPs as related to the Premium Audit system functions.
- Serve as an escalation point for complex customer inquiries, questions, and concerns and skillfully handles and follows-up.
- Review and provide feedback on KPI/Metrics and all other reporting for audit.
- Act as liaisons to other departments for cross-functional collaboration
- Advocate for our customers and our team while participating in team meetings, projects, and in communications.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and collaborates with cross-functional partners to drive process improvement opportunities.
- Recognize the goals of the business and how changes may impact internal partnerships and workflows.
The Right Stuff
- High School diploma or GED required. Bachelor degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in premium audit is required.
- Minimum of 4 years commercial insurance experience is required.
- Minimum of 1 year experience working in a leadership role or demonstrated leadership experience is required.
- Knowledge of state/bureau specific premium audit rules. Ability to interpret/communicate rules accurately and to cross functional stakeholders. Utilize existing contacts and develop relationships within the industry to assist in progressing Pie's Premium Audit Team.
- Intermediate communication (written and verbal) skills, to deliver more complex information effectively.
- Developed problem solving skills to be able to manage complex tasks and work through to solutions with little guidance and direction.
- Intermediate awareness of your own tasks, and how it impacts the team and deliverables
- Intermediate leadership skills and some general experience leading work groups or task forces in specific projects.
- Detail oriented: Ability to pay close attention to small particulars when working on a task or project. Complete work as flawlessly as possible before moving to the next task. Projects and tasks are high-quality work with little to no errors. Able to review work of others and find errors, inconsistencies, and/or trends.
- Strong time management skills: skilled in the process of organizing and planning how to divide time between specific activities. Able to prioritize work to meet deadlines and communicate priority of work to others.
- Well organized: Use resources efficiently and effectively. Ability to manage time, energy, and workspace well and accomplish all assigned tasks successfully.
- G-Suite Tools, Collaboration tools (Slack is preferred), Salesforce, Looker, and Insurity is preferred.

Location Information
Unless otherwise specified, this role has the option to be hybrid or remote. Hybrid work locations provide team members with the flexibility of working partially from our Denver or DC office and from home.
