What You'll Do:As the Senior Captive Consultant, you’ll be an integral member of Foxen’s Insurance Operations department.
In this dynamic and diverse role, you’ll have the unique opportunity to build and manage a captive management service offering at an innovative and rapidly growing company. You also will act as a strategic consultant, providing responsive and expert guidance to the Company and our multi-family housing customers on how they can use captive strategies to mitigate financial exposure from tenant-caused property damage. Our ideal candidate is an experienced property & casualty insurance professional who has at least 5-8 years of experience specifically in captive insurance consulting and management.
They will be self-directed with a passion for collaborating and problem-solving, with the ability to adapt as the Company’s needs evolve.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a subject matter expert regarding captive insurance solutions for internal and external stakeholders, including:
- Providing strategic and operational guidance to Foxen leadership and employees on captive insurance-related matters.
- Advising Foxen’s multi-family housing customers on options and considerations around self-insuring against property damage caused by tenant negligence.
- Assisting the Revenue team and Relationship Managers in preparing and delivering proposals and presentations to prospective customers on forming captive insurance companies or protected cells.
- Provide leadership and direction to build and then manage a captive management service offering, to include:
- Coordinating the establishment of new captives or protected cells for Foxen’s customers.
- Driving communication and coordinating with third-party service provider partners, including actuaries, auditors, brokers, and claims TPAs, to meet customer needs.
- Coordinating closely with Foxen Finance and Legal & Compliance teams to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, submission of required regulatory reports to the Department of Insurance, premium invoicing and audit processes, reserving, and timely and accurate captive financial reporting.
- Coordinating policy issuance and claims reporting and analysis with other members of the Insurance Operations team.
- Supporting the preparation and communication of business plan change requests to regulators.
- Coordinating (as requested) and preparing and/or presenting materials at the captives’ board of directors’ meetings.
- Responding to customer needs and inquiries in a timely fashion.
What You Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college, preferably in an accounting field; CPA preferred.
- CPCU, ARM, ACI or equivalent insurance-specific education .
- At least 5-8 years of recent captive management experience and the ability to build, manage, plan and direct the activities of the captive program; at least 5 years of experience in a customer-facing role.
- Strongly preferred: Excellent knowledge of North Carolina captive insurance regulations and procedures, and the technical ability to discuss regulatory updates with clients; experience with protected cell captives.
- Pluses: Recent supervisory or managerial experience.
- Able to effectively collaborate at all levels within the organization and with external partners and customers.
- Outstanding project management skills; strategic, organized, responsible, and able to exercise independent judgment to guide a team in prioritizing competing demands and completing high quality work.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups or individuals; a high level of professionalism in all interactions.
