The Hearth, is a custom-designed cGMP facility dedicated to AAV manufacturing and hosts scalable, end-to-end manufacturing services. 

About The Role 


We are currently seeking a Supply Operations Technician to join the Forge Biologics team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the startup efforts in our warehouses by executing the receipt, storage and handling of starting materials needed for the Grove City Ohio operations. The candidate will utilize existing material handling methods as well as coordinate the implementation of new processes to support start up, lab and GMP processing operations. The ideal candidate will be skilled in modern supply chain methodologies, be able to use industrial lift trucks, inventory management systems, be highly organized and able to prioritize their schedule to meet the needs of internal and external customers.The Supply Operations Technician is responsible for supporting all material handling needs for all areas at the Hearth.These areas include supporting Safety, Quality, Training, Regulatory, Maintenance, HR, finance, Process Development, validation and qualification efforts.The Sr.

Material Handler will also support all new documents authoring and review for the department.

What You’ll Do 


  • Perform as well as able to supervise the activities of workers engaged in receiving, storing, testing, and shipping products or materials
  • Assist in the planning, developing or implementation of warehouse safety and security programs and activities.
  • Respond to customers' (internal or external) or shippers' questions and complaints regarding storage and distribution services.
  • Monitor inventory levels of products or materials in warehouses.
  • Organize material according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology
  • Focus and experience in cold chain handling and packaging a plus
  • Maintain records and files of work and revisions
  • Move freight, stock, or other materials to and from storage or production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, ships, or containers, by hand or using trucks, carts, or other equipment.
  • Sort cargo before loading and unloading.
  • Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or material or equipment needs.
  • Examine and inspect stock items for wear or defects.
  • Receive and count stock items, and record data manually or on computer.
  • Mark stock items, using identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools, or other labeling equipment.
  • Verify inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts of stock, and investigate discrepancies or adjust errors.
  • Issue or distribute materials, products, parts, and supplies to customers or coworkers, based on information from incoming requisitions.
  • Provide assistance or direction to other stockroom, warehouse personnel.
  • Properly handle and disposition damaged or defective items, or return them to vendors.
  • Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Recommend disposal of excess, defective, or obsolete stock.
  • Keep records on the use or damage of stock or stock-handling equipment.

What You’ll Bring 


  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent work experience)Minimum of 2+ years’ experience in biopharmaceutical manufacturing or quality control activities preferred
  • Must be self-motivating, organized and proactive
  • Strong technical aptitude including demonstrated experience in applying scientific reasoning to solve complex problems.
  • Ability to work hours necessary to support production and/or product transfer activities
  • English Language - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Computers and Electronics - Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
  • Clerical - Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, stenography and transcription, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.
  • Travel on an infrequent basis is required (<5%) to support job responsibilities and commitments.

Work Environment and Physical Demands 


This position works in both a warehouse and typical office environment where the physical work demands will vary depending on the specific tasks and duties required of the job. The noise level is usually moderate. This role utilizes a computer and other standard warehouse equipment such as powered industrial trucks and hand trucks. Regularly moves freight, stock, or other materials to and from storage or production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles. Must be able to lift, carry, push, and/or pull objects weighing up to 50 lbs.

Regularly communicate with others in person and electronically.
