RPM proudly services the some of the most recognizable and transformative companies in the world as The Driving Force in Logistics™Your RoleThe Expedite Carrier Sales Representative is responsible for sourcing and managing carrier relationships specifically for expedite shipments. This role is crucial in ensuring timely and efficient transportation solutions for our customers requiring expedited services. The Expedite Carrier Sales Representative will work closely with the Carrier Managers, Customer Ops, and Customer Sales and other internal teams to meet and exceed customer expectations.Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Carrier Sourcing and Management:
- Identify and develop relationships with carriers specializing in expedited freight.
- Negotiate rates and secure capacity for expedite shipments.
- Ensure compliance with RPM’s carrier standards and requirements.
- Ensure carriers meet our customers standards for service
- Load Planning and Execution:
- Expedite sales reps need to be adept at handling time-sensitive shipments and must have a deep understanding of the nuances of expedite freight.
- Plan and execute expedite shipments, ensuring on-time pickup and delivery, with real time visibility and all shipments on tech tracking.
- Monitor shipment progress and proactively address any issues that arise.
- Coordinate with customer operations and sales teams to provide accurate and timely updates.
- Communication and Coordination:
- Maintain clear and open communication with carriers, customers, and internal teams.
- Provide detailed shipment instructions and ensure carriers understand all requirements.
- Address carrier inquiries and resolve any service issues promptly.
- Performance Monitoring:
- Track and analyze carrier performance metrics, including on-time delivery, service quality, and compliance.
- Implement corrective actions for carriers not meeting performance standards.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of the carrier scorecard.
- Technology Utilization:
- Utilize RPM’s TMS (Turvo) and other technology platforms (TNX, Macropoint, Turvo Driver App) to manage shipments and track performance.
- Ensure accurate data entry and maintenance of shipment records.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in carrier sales or a similar logistics role, with a focus on expedite shipments preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, business, or a related field preferred
- Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills
- Excellent communication and coordination abilities
- Proficient in using TMS and other logistics technology platforms
- Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions
- Self-motivated and results-driven
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
