Waltonen Engineering is looking for a Network Administrator to join our team!
Responsibilities
- Work under the guidance of the IT Manager to align network operations with organizational goals
- Oversee the installation, configuration, and support of network equipment, including routers, proxy servers, switches, WAN accelerators, DNS, and DHCP
- Configure firewalls, routing, and switching to optimize network efficiency and enhance security
- Continuously monitor and troubleshoot network performance to maintain optimal functionality
- Attend to network faults promptly, diagnosing and resolving hardware or software issues
- Provide responsive support by addressing help desk tickets submitted by end-users
- Document solutions and resolutions for future reference and knowledge sharing
- Procure network equipment and effectively manage subcontractors involved in network installation projects as needed
- Occasionally travel to our Troy facility to provide support
- Assist with additional systems administration duties as required
Qualifications
- Associate's degree or higher in Information Technology, Network Security, or a related field
- 3+ years of relevant work experience in network administration, network engineering, or related roles
- Proficiency in network administration, including configuring switches, firewalls, and routers
- Strong knowledge of Cisco networking technologies
- Experience with VMware environments and network operations
- Proven track record of managing, troubleshooting, and maintaining complex network systems
- Familiarity with hardware components (desktops, laptops, tablets, workstations)
- Understanding of PC internal components (drives, cards, memory upgrades)
- Hands-on hardware troubleshooting skills
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail
- Creative problem-solving skills to address complex technical challenges
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Technology, Network Security, or a related field
- Knowledge of NIST/CMMC frameworks
- Certifications such as A+ or Microsoft MC are a bonus
