Job Description:
The DevOps Engineer is accountable for the execution of PCS's tactical plan to streamline delivery of software and configuration and enable continuous improvement through automation and integration. Working in collaboration with development and platform teams, the DevOps Engineer implements and maintains automation toolsets for configuration management, infrastructure, and application deployment processes, and maintains the production environments for all PCS products.
Skills Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related field plus 2 or more years of experience working in operations and system administration as well as CI/CD and security/compliance automation, or an equivalent combination preferred. Appropriate technical internships can replace the 2 years of experience if you are a recent graduate.
- Proficiency with PowerShell and other scripting languages required. Experience automating deployments with Azure DevOps preferred.
- Experience with Platform upgrades and patching on Linux and Windows.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure Cloud services and automating through IaaS, services such as but not limited to Azure AD, API Management Layer, Azure Functions, Containerization with Kubernetes (AKS).
- Proficiency with SQL Server 2012 or higher and Microsoft Windows Server technologies including Internet Information Server (IIS) is required.
- Experience working with source control systems such as Git in a team environment is required.
- Involvement with the Software Development Life Cycle from problem definition, requirements definition, design, development, testing, and implementation; including agile and waterfall methodologies.
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to consistently deliver on customer expectations by producing high quality products in a timely and efficient manner.
- Must be resourceful, creative, and outcome-oriented, with the ability to take initiative and address problems cooperatively.
Job Tasks:
- Maintains/monitors staging and production environments as well as overall management of development and testing systems.
- Supports complex application deployments, configuration settings, and database migrations using the automated deployment systems and scripting tools.
- Manage, develop, and implement solutions to further expand our use of deployment and test automation technology across the organization in accordance with business objectives.
- Recommends, implement, and maintain continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipeline templates and best practices.
- Expand the capacity and performance of the production system.
- Conduct root cause analysis of critical issues.
- Interacts with other IT teams to share technical expertise.
- Effectively translates use cases and requirements into repeatable processes and system designs.
- Assists and provides technical quality oversight at various points throughout a project lifecycle.
- Responsibile for documentation, requirements gathering, and maintenance of internal program licenses and registration, hardware inventory control, and special projects as necessary.
- Audio visual support for webinars, conference rooms, and company meetings as necessary.
- Internal company help desk support and onboarding new hires and off boarding terminated employees.
- Responsible for requirements gathering on new equipment, gathering quotes, order processing, and inventory of received equipment as necessary.
- Occassional travel (less than 5% to other PCS office sites and/or customer sites for technial support of software/hardware.)
- This position will be on a rotational on call support for devops deployments and operations.
- This position is based on site in Houston, Texas. This is not a remote role.

- This position is open to recent Computer Science graduates and recent graduates within the last 3 years who are located in the Houston, Texas metro commuting area who are able to work onsite from the PCS office 5-days a week.
- This is a position that requires extreme reliability, strong communication skills, and the ability to work on call as necessary 24/7/365 due to the nature of software deployments and customer support issues.
- Solid technical requirements are required.
- Microsoft Azure technical certifications are a plus.
