As the Prepress Operator, you’ll be responsible for preparing digital files in an efficient and timely manner for print.- Process files using Adobe Acrobat and Kodak Prinergy Pre-Press Workflow by completingstandard file preparation and creating layout/imposition using Kodak Preps and/or Metrix- Serve as Prepress Operator, during their shift - assisting other operators.- Notify others as needed when work is available to QC in the department.- Assist in QC as needed during Manager absence or unavailability.- Assist Premedia Supervisor with workload scheduling.
Review jobs leftover fromprevious shift to check for priority of work needed.- Providing timely communication at shift change.- Preflight customer files providing print information to customer service.- Output files for lasers, soft proof, content proofs, digital proofs and plates.- Troubleshoot file and print issues.- Ensure accuracy of the plates before sending to press by checking plates toproofs, templates, and other resources provided, following department SOP.- Assist Premedia Supervisor with troubleshooting equipment for system maintenanceor repair.- Conducts miscellaneous eqipment maintenace assignments as may be required.- Server Maintenance* - archive files off of server as needed to keep appropriate working space.- Template maintenance* - update EPP templates as needed and communicate updates- Additional duties as assignedRequirements- High school diploma or GED, required- Three (3) to five (5) years experience, requiredFunctional Skills- Strong knowledge of Mac and Windows is a must- Must be proficient with using programs such as Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office,- Prinergy Prepress Workflow, Kodak Preps, and Metrix- Understanding of color theory and color correction methods used in the print process- Typesetting- Knowledge of sheet-fed, web and digital printing processes- Prioritization skills- Deadline oriented- Detail oriented and self-motivated- Willingness to work in other departments when required- Graphic and Web Design experience, preferredSalary Description$25.00 - 28.00
