We are looking for a committed Senior Software Engineer to join our Tactical Command & Control line of business. You will solve uniquely challenging problems for our Defense and Homeland Security customers. Help manage large volumes of critical, real-time information about issues from global to local. This position requires an active US Secret clearance or the ability to obtain one.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Developing database schemas with entity relationships based on system engineering data models
- Ensuring entity relationships are maintained in the database to include referential integrity
- Generating Data transfer objects (DTOs) that are leveraged by other services to store and retrieve entities
- Assisting with cyber “hardening” of software to ensure the delivered software is secure and meets required cyber security standards
- Designing, developing, and maintaining internal tooling used in the creation of various software products
- Working closely with your teammates to solve problems and produce high-quality software
- Continuously challenging yourself to become a better software developer
- Communicate development concepts to software developers, program management, and customer representatives during meetings
- Work with system engineering personnel to assess requirements, and to ensure consistency between system architecture and software architecture
- Use Jira, Confluence, Git/Bitbucket collaboration and source control tools to communicate information
- Identify potential roadblocks and develop around them
- Plan and estimate development tasks and work to improve performance metrics
WHAT YOU HAVE DONE
- Obtained a BS degree in a related field, and 8 years of experience.
- Developed software leveraging Spring Java Framework
- Worked with persistence technologies that are both relational and unstructured
- Experience working with Postgres and/or Elasticsearch
- Developed software leveraging Java Swing to create window, linux, and web applications
- Developed solutions leveraging REST and WebSocket technologies
- Are able to use modern software build tools, including Git, Jenkins and Gradle
EVEN BETTER
- Have data modeling experience
- Experience using Git (or a Git-based implementation, e.g. Stash, Bitbucket, Github) in a collaborative production environment—especially on a large-scale software project
- Experience using Jenkins, Gradle and Maven
- Published software projects for external consumption, or have made significant contributions to existing open-source projects
- Experience with the Agile or Scrum development methodology
- Experience with Atlassian products (Jira, Bitbucket/Stash, Nexus)
- Experience with continuous integration or build automation (e.g. Jenkins, Bamboo)
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Proficiency with MS Office Products (Word, Excel, Visio, & PowerPoint)
- Experience with Tactical Assault Kit (TAK)
