Director of Business Performance and Planning (Ithaca, NY or Philadelphia, PA)

PSD provides a whole-systems approach to energy efficiency strategies through our work on advancing energy policies, designing and delivering cost-effective energy efficiency programs, and building software tools to streamline data tracking and reporting.
Our core business efforts span three major areas: 1) the delivery of high-impact energy efficiency programs; 2) workforce development and industry training; and 3) the design and development of systems that create, manage, and analyze energy efficiency data. The Director of Business Performance and Planning is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing the strategic planning, performance management, and business analysis processes within the organization. The Director will ensure the company's operational efficiency and strategic alignment by developing and implementing robust planning models, conducting detailed performance analyses, and creating performance metrics and dashboards. The Director will work closely with senior leadership and department heads to align business goals with organizational objectives, providing recommendations to enhance business performance, and support sustainable growth.
What will you do?
- Oversee the strategic planning and analysis function, including budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning.
- Develop and maintain planning models to support strategic initiatives and business decision-making.
- Conduct thorough business analysis to identify trends, variances, and key performance indicators.
- Lead the development and implementation of performance management frameworks, including the creation and monitoring of performance metrics and dashboards.
- Collaborate with department heads to ensure alignment of business goals with organizational objectives.
- Provide insights and recommendations to improve performance and operational efficiency.
- Prepare and present detailed performance reports to senior management and stakeholders, including variance analysis and projections.
- Develop and maintain robust data analytics capabilities to support decision-making.
- Partner with senior leaders to develop and execute strategies that support the company's growth and profitability goals.
Need to Have:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- At least five years’ experience in strategic planning and analysis, preferably in a leadership role.
- Proven experience with performance management and business analytics.
- Advanced proficiency in planning models and data analysis tools.

- Proficiency in business software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
This position will be out of either our Philadelphia or our Ithaca office. It is a hybrid position which includes 20-40% of time in the office and the remainder of time working remotely.
Physical Demands: Frequent use of the computer requiring periods of sitting and close audio-visual concentration. Physical demands are minimal and typical of similar jobs in comparable organizations. Work Environment: Office work is performed in an open and collaborative environment.
