Overview:
WiredPeople invites applicants to join our growing team as a Public Health Program Specialist to assist with support activities for multiple electronic information systems. Successful candidates must be able to clearly communicate both verbally and in writing to diverse individuals with widely varying levels of technical skills.
This position can be remote but you MUST be able and willing to travel to Jefferson City, Missouri.
This is a second-level professional position responsible for planning, promoting, implementing, or evaluating a public health program, service, or grant; or implementing environmentally influenced public health laws and regulations. At this level, employees provide assistance and guidance to partners, contractors, and agencies involved in program implementation; and perform day-to-day program activities including conducting inspections and surveys, assisting in budget development, and participating in or leading public health events.
Job Duties:
- Presenting sections of material and assisting with questions at live trainings throughout the State of Missouri for local public health agency, state agency, and data submitters.
- Presenting sections of material and assisting with questions during virtual trainings for end users as needed.
- Under supervisory guidance, developing a variety of training materials for live trainings, virtual trainings, posting on the website, and other situations as needed.
- Under supervisory guidance, creating, or collaborating with training staff to create, virtual training modules as needed.
- Covering manned office hours in a virtual format for end users to ask questions and receive assistance on use of the system.
- Covering shifts on the help desk to support end users and data submitters.
- Providing additional training and support services as determined necessary based on assessments and end user feedback. Examples include frequently asked question documents, live training sessions for individuals or small groups, hot topic sessions, and any other materials/services needed to improve the end user experience.

- Ability to navigate and use network drives for shared work.
- Attendance and punctuality in accordance with policies as this team will be public facing.
- Ability to utilize own transportation to travel to main offices and training locations throughout Missouri Ability to cover travel expenses up front until reimbursement is received from the hiring agency, unless other arrangements are made with the hiring agency.
- Ability to meet with staff virtually and in person as requested
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and 2 or more years of relevant experience.
- Ability to lead a team consisting of 3 PHP Supervisors each supervising 3 PHP Specialists.
- Ability to apply project management principles in order to schedule training/support services.
- Ability to develop processes for the team’s activities and perform quality improvement activities to continually enhance customer service.
- Ability to develop and track metrics related to team activities.
- Ability to work in a transparent manner in collaboration with the Interoperability Manager for the ShowMe WorldCare project or other managers working on other projects.
Preferred Qualifications / Skills:
- Ability to develop training support materials such as PowerPoint presentations, guidance documents (e.g., training manuals, tip sheets), and online modules.
- Basic understanding of public health practice related to communicable and environmental conditions, surveillance, and informatics.
