Job Summary:


As a key member of our team, you will design and develop a scalable and secure API to enable Bear software's integration with third-party services. You will play a crucial role in enhancing our product's capability to serve a global fleet of robots, ensuring high performance and security. Your expertise will contribute to our fast-paced startup environment by transforming high-level requirements into creative solutions that enable seamless integration with our customers and their technologies.

Key Duties/Responsibilities:


  • Design and Development: Lead the design, development, and implementation of a scalable, cloud-based API for the integration of Bear software with various third-party services. Ensure that the API can efficiently handle data and service requests for a global fleet of robots.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including cloud engineers, robotics infrastructure, and human-robot interaction teams, to integrate diverse systems and technologies.
  • API Security: Implement robust security measures, adhering to best practices in API security and authentication protocols to protect against unauthorized access and threats.
  • Performance Optimization: Continuously evaluate and optimize the performance of the API to handle high volumes of concurrent requests without degradation of service.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and team members, fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation.
  • Documentation: Document all aspects of the API including design choices, codebase, and updates to ensure clear understanding and ease of use for developers.
  • Third-party Coordination: Communicate with third-party service providers to ensure seamless integration and functionality across platforms.
  • Quality Assurance: Oversee rigorous testing of the API, ensuring its reliability, scalability, and error-free operation before deployment.
  • Continuous Learning and Adaptation: Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in API development, cloud services, and software engineering to continually bring innovation and improvements to the platform.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities:


  • Mentoring: While this position does not include formal supervisory responsibilities, it may require mentoring junior engineers and interns.

Required Skills/Abilities/Qualifications:


  • Experience with a high level language such as Go/Python/C++
  • Experience working in Unix/Linux environments

Preferred Skills/Abilities/Qualifications:


  • Expertise in API security best practices and knowledge of auth protocols
  • Expertise in Microservice architecture and RESTful architecture
  • Experience with, MQTT, gRPC, Protocol Buffers, or similar technologies
  • Experience with ESP on Google Cloud

Education/Experience:


  • BS in CS or related field
  • 5+ years of experience designing, developing, and maintaining services and APIs

The pay range for this position is $190K-$230K . Pay is dependent on the applicant's relevant experience.
